One of edinburghs best pubs , friendly staff , great thought and choice has gone into the drink selection with plenty of foreign beers and it has a nice smoker friendly area outside . It also seems to have avoided the usual influx of chavs and posho students which is a result .

The food is really good (as others have said you may need to book a table as their is limited space) however even though it is on the expensive side you dont tend to mind when youre drinking here . its worth it.

Can't beat the burritos and the margartitas are fine to. Nice unpretentious bar. Hard to get a lunchtime table.

Cool bar, relly chilled and a good pint of lager with good friendly service. The little outside heated smoking area is handy too.

Food is good and reasonably priced.

IMO, not the best pub in Edin, but certainly trendy, like a 21st Century version of the Antiquary, whose erstwhile denizens occasionally drink/sleep.

Yes, Chav and Yah free, which can only be a good thing!

Bit pricey but very relaxed place (not to mention central) for a few drinks.

I agree Sark, to a certain extent. For a start, I wouldn't describe it as a pub. It's a semi-trendy bar/restaurant. There is a good atmosphere, it's always busy, the music is good and the food is too - but you need to book to book to sit in the main restaurant bit. Ales are pretty non-existent (think there's your Edinburgh usuals), but nice lagers (Staropramen and Lowenbrau I think) on tap. Not the cheapest by a long shot!

Nice place though. Recommended.

Best pub in Edinburgh. Famous for it's food (especially the nachos/ mexican selection. Never bettered throughout the UK, in my opinion). Great atmosphere, great music, and good clientele. How many pubs do you know manage to remain free of both chavs and yahs?! Cool friendly staff and below-average prices (in fact the food is very cheap for what you get). The blueprint for how all pubs should be!
