Ok but nothing special except the prices- £4.10 for a pint of Sheer Drop is out of order.

My wife and I called in lunchtime on a Friday recently. Usual regulars there seated at and near the bar. They seem a friendly bunch but its a case of you don't get talked to 'til they know you. Ale always in good condition here. I had the Shere Drop which apparently is now 'silver medallist ale for 2013'. It's OK but I can think of other beers I'd rate better than Shere Drop. Also Greene King IPA on. We tried a couple of the Thai dishes which were excellent. Nice atmosphere of a real local, unmucked about with, pub.

Just popped in for a quick one before a brief walk. GK IPA, Youngs Ordinary, Pride and a rather good Surrey Hills Shere Drop. Bar staff very pleasant, happy sitting out in the sun.

Not a 'snooty pub' IMO, but there are regulars who stick together because they know each other.

Pete (a barman there) used to run the Royal Oak in Bookham years ago. The best pub I've ever drunk (and been drunk) in. A true gentleman.

Recently started Thai food but I have yet to try it. Before, the food was 'good pub food' at very reasonable prices. I will report back.

An old-style 'mind your head on the beams' place. Flagstones one side, carpet to the left, and a dedicated restaurant area beyond that. 'Lacking in seating'? Maybe, but on the plus side, you can get out of your seat at a table without knocking into someone sitting at the table behind you.

The Shere Drop was well kept, as good as the King Billy up the road, and possibly a bit more reliable.

One of my favourite pubs at the moment, the others being the Plough at Effingham, The Abinger Hatch, Chequers at Walton-on-the-Hill, and the Volunteer at Sutton Abinger. Oh, and the Plough at Coldharbour (which has it's own brewery!)

Quite a nice place, looks big from the outside but seems oddly lacking in seating on the inside. Big garden but once again very few tables in it. Youngs, Pride, Green King & Tim Taylors on, I had a couple of pints of Landlord which were fine. Food good and surprisingly cheap as the place is bordering on a gastro-pub. Food service a bit slow but worth the wait.

Spent a pleasant evening here with friends recently, beer was top notch condition, (IPA and Pride) and the food was good value and tasty. Will visit more often from now on. Seemed to be a bit quite for a Thursday night and I don't understand why!

Visited the pub for a midweek meal. Has the pleasant atmosphere of a village local. Well run by the landlord with good food at a reasonable price. One of the few pubs I have dragged my wife to where she has expressed a wish to return. Can't say better than that.

Reading Bikers comment below takes me back a little as this pub prides it`s self on the food/restaurant side of the business,so what hope for the place. We have had a meal here in the past but after reading the SOTD we won`t be back. Gone from 7/10 to 2/10.

Fairly standard village pub with tables out the front. Sports the old Ind Coope signs advertising Burton Ale as you go in. A couple of ales available (Pride, GK IPA & Spitfire).

pub is up for sale now and has started closing at random times, very annoying if you are going out at 8.30pm then they throw you out at 9pm !!!

A real locals pub, you will see the same people every time you go in there. Friendly staff though.

Having recommended this pub in the first place, I went back on a Sunday and was much less satisfied. There was a large group of loud-mouthed rowdies in; the sort of thing you might expect in a town at 10pm on a Friday night but not in a leafy Surrey village at Sunday lunchtime! I was directed to what I was told was a no-smoking table, but a guy on a bar stool was smoking right next to me. The roast, slightly expensive, contained a lot of gristle and was swimming in gravy. To cap it all I had to wait to settle my tab and they then tried to overcharge me by more than 10, blaming the inevitable 'computer errors' on the till, which took ages to resolve even though I'd worked out what I owed in my head and was holding out the exact money. Poor show.

Good beer on tap, lovely chayty local atmosphere. Had a very tasty three-cheese sandwich on Saturday, which came with a dressed-salad and, I believe, the new flavour "gourmet" Pringles. Took the parents back today, Sunday, as they've got a special Sunday menu. Good selection of well-made, well-proportioned starters including "Chorizo, bacon and potato salad", "Poached haddock fillet on a bred of pea puree with diced tomatoes" and "parma ham salad". Beef, pork and chicken roasts looked good, we all went for beef and the trimmings (yorkshire pud, roasties and veg) were all great. Selection of homemade puddings included bread-and-buter pudding, creme bruleee and apple pie.

Great atmosphere, attentive service and a dicky-bowed Italian waiter - what more could you ask for?

Reasonable choice of ales. Bar staff obviously favour regulars. Nice garden area. Food very limited and average. Won't go again!

Wonderful walkers' pub with London Pride, Youngs Ordinary, Spitfire and Greene King IPA all served in a choice of jug or straight glass. Great value-for-money food for under a tenner, which even includes a side dish of fresh cooked vegetables. I have ranked dozens of pubs between 4 and 9 points; this one's a 9 :-)
