please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Decided to drop back in at lunchtime. Oh dear, the 'barman' (he actually told me he was a 'partner in the business') was a complete ass.....and that's being complementary. Good pub in need of direction........my advise to the 'partner' would be,,,,,,,,,'Stick to working on the fields'........................

Addlestons (have I spelt it correctly??) Cider available here in addition to some GK offerings. Not a bad little pub in a nice village. The welcome is always friendly and the menu looks good.

On Holiday for a week in Kings Sombourne, had spotted The Crown on the internet. Looked very attractive from the Photo. On First day we arrived too early for accomodation so went straight to The Crown. No disapointment here, we Instantly relaxed in comfy chairs with one of the best pints of Abbots Ale I have ever had (and Ive had a few). It was hard to avoid this pub as we were staying 5 mins walk away. We avoided 2 nights out of 7. On our last night we dined . Food was excellent. In all it is impossible to find fault with this pub.

First rate village pub
Good choice of cask beers as well as stout, ciders and lagers on draught
Excellent, home prepared and cooked foods, good basic choice with variety of specials
Reasonably priced with good portions
An acceptably wide range of wines ,well chosen and again reasonably priced
Warm and welcoming atmosphere
Decor is very "beams and brasses" and whilst relatively small ,the place is light and not claustrophobic. The tabled dining area is separate from the bar and lounge (Very nice log fire)

From the first time we stepped into this gem we were warmly welcomed and are lucky enough to live in the village . This beautiful pub? its much more !
Exellent menu , home cooked food with lovely additions to vary it from season to season . Staff from kitchen to bar to Management are all top notch , its like stepping into a friends place , lovely regulars everyone is welcoming .
We are always meeting visitors from far afield that come back time after time and who would'nt !
Terry , Jude , Brian, and Sue , Cathryn, Carol ,Lottie , Ali , Jack ,Lily , Sarah , just to name a few , we hear about closures all the time , this establishment is the heart of the village .

If you are rambling in the area then you must make this pub a waypoint on your route. My intial impressions from the reviews was that it would be a bit hit or miss - I couldn't have been more wrong. The Crown Inn is small pub with a warm welcoming atmosphere. The landlord and staff were really friendly and the beer and food excellent. I am suprised this pub isn't rated higher and I urge all those that read this site to comment on the pub more favourably - In short our stop off for lunch made our walk truly memorable.

This pub has been completely made over, it's now a gastro pub/restaurant - the lounge area has leather settees and there are now dining areas with glasses and napkins at the ready. The toilets have been modernised - well done, but although the landlord believed that the overall character had been retained and everywhere is now clean and no longer interestingly shabby shabby (there's still exposed beams and fireplace)there was hardly anyone there when I visited midweek, although passing by on a Saturday some time later there appeared to be a crowd preparing for a wedding. Not a typical village pub anymore. The beer was fine but I can't remember what it was.

a fantastic welcome is guaranteed in this local drinking hole. I have to agree with 'anonymous' that The Crown should be left as it is with its rustic charm. The ales on tap were 6x and ringwood but were both served too cold. Although not the best pint, the welcome and atmosphere make the pub well worth visiting if you are in the area.

I quite agree, I visited it today - and a most welcome Sunday afternoon awaited it proved to be. On a main road, yet rural and rustic. Don't refurb and don't repaint. It's excellent. There is more 'horse and hound' than 'crown' about it - and that's good!!

This is a basic locals pub with a rough and ready feel. It needs a refurb and a lick of paint. However Mine Hosts(Tim & Rose) are extremely welcoming to strangers, including hikers, kids and dogs. They've got some real ales, bar meals and lovely open fires in Winter. If you want a warm welcome and don't mind it a bit scruffy you won't find a better pub. And it's not part of a silly pub chain !!

Quiet and friendly little pub. I accidentally on purpose missed my bus back to Winchester so I could have the pleasure of spending a couple more hours here.
