The DJ on a Friday night is killing this pub used to be a pleasure to finish off a good night here and listen to some good music but the constant head banging stuff he plays is driving the punters away. People ask him for request all the time but he totally ignores everyone he may as well be in his own bedroom and stop torturing us with his choices......Crap

I was also greeted by the smell of disinfectant and a bewildering pubs-r-uz layout, I should have been prepared for a typical down market town pub with beer to match. Four hand pumps with pretty poor John Smiths Magnet, plus Black Sheep Bitter and Summer Lightning. You will be able to guess the keg range so I wont bore you with a list. Within the odd collection of rooms there is a nice bar back, a pool table and the usual screens and machines needed in pubs today. Plastic glasses only if you drink outside.

No problem with the real ale here, either the choice or the quality, but it really smelt of disinfectant which was a bit of a put off. It was our first visit here, but we will look in again next time in the area due to the good beer choice.

Popped in on a Saturday afternoon and it certainly had a student feel to it. Seperate pool room to the right of the entrance and then a fairly large open bar. Staff and locals seemed friendly enough although the music was on the loud side for a Saturday lunchtime. Good beer on offer (although a strong lean towards the dark - not a problem for me) including my favourite Hobgoblin and also a chocolate stout.

Not been in for a couple of years but this was always the place to end up in town on a Saturday night due to its late licence and availability of decent real ale. There was always a decent atmosphere and plenty young people in. Occasional gigs and music nights upstairs too. Hope it's not gone downhill too much since then.

Fleapit of a pub , went in , noone behind bar , waited and waited. Eventually a youth appeared who seemed more interesting in singing to the awful music than serving me. Beer avaerage. No quiz now on mondays , lack of interest , can see why. Not good!

Called in Saturday night and it was nearly empty, beer was good company was better, and not a lot of smoke which makes a change. This pub is used mostly by students but don't let that put you off.

great pub from student days. do they still do the Monday night quiz? Also had a 'magic phonebox' - put 10p in and you could talk all night (til the landlord got wind of it).

happy memories.

Better than average town centre pub. Have live gigs upstairs too.
