It was like stepping back to the 1980s going into this pub. I cant say whether that is a good or bad thing, it was certainly great to see a place with a Bar Billiard table though. The bar staff were a little uncommunicative and I fairly unfriendly look for sitting near the dart board when someone came up to use it. It did have the feel of a working mens club when I called in, this doesnt necessarily have to be a bad thing though.
If you are not one for trendy or particularly plush pub or wanting a slightly nostalgic trip to a pre-Gastro Pub era den then this could be the place for you.

This is a fantastic pub. Great decor, staff and atmosphere. And two dart boards. Def worth a visit

Went there the other night and I swear I saw the drummer, John Brandham, from The Peoples Revolutionary Choir drinking with a guy from eastenders. That band are my latest favourite. Really powerful stuff. I expected him to be stuck up his own arse, being in such a great band, but he looked really friendly with his mates. Too friendly sometimes, but great pub anyway. Great band. Great.

I can't really say that the pubs around Stroud Green are any good.

The Larrik's shite, the F Fullback crowded and the others tend to attract the wrong crowd. The choice is extremely limited and you have to make do with the best of a bad bunch.

Yes - it might have been an off night but kids running around after 10pm. Blokes in their 40's with teenage girls. Bright lights, loud music. This boozer was something out of Shameless set in East Germany in 1978. First impressions usually count and all I can add is that the pub shouldn't have to be run like a NACRO centre.

Glad to see the Nick rediscover a bit of its former character - I was worried for a while. Bar Billiards is back, the dart board was playing host to a lazy game of killer, draught Bass is an increasingly rare pleasure in London these days, all in all a no-nonsense, quiet back-street local. Just don't come with preconceptions or pretensions and you'll be fine.

One of the best pubs in the area. I real 'Local' with a real diversity of characters from all walks of life. May appear cliquey to the uninitiated but once your face becomes vaguely familiar a more welcoming place you could not wish for. Persevere and youll be glad you did. Even when the place is quiet the excellent staff (all locals themselves) are always great company.

I cant believe some of the negative comments on this site and can only assume they picked an off night. Given some the patronising Jeremy Kyle comments I would recommend the Larrick round the corner for a better class of chap. It has its own unique sense of blandness which Im sure would be their cup of tea (quite literally).

For those of us who just like a beer. Come on in!!

Went in on a Saturday night. It was bright! I do agree, there a few candidates for the Jeremy Kyle show in there. Interesting! The pub is only 20 years old. Nothing remarkable about the decor. Quite plain, but there are some characters..

Concur fully with Chicky.

Very bright lights, loud music, chintzy decor and a few candidates for the Jeremy Kyle show. Needs sensitive gutting.

Shame that a great looking pub has all the charm of a flat-roofed estate pub.

Don't go here.

Looks great from the outside, but that's where you should stay. Distinctly local (chilly) feel in the main bar - which was a shame as it's a nice area. Moved into the back/side room whatever you want to call it. The lighting was far too bright and the music was turned up so loud a few minutes after we sat down that we had to yell at each other. We were then given such dirty looks that we thought we had taken over the table of a recently deceased local. The kids running around (late on a firday night) didn't help either.
Left after one.

An honest, doen-to-the-earth pub. Nothing out of the ordinary. However, they do have fantastic bar people (Jimmy, in particular) Decent selection of beer as well. All must visit and frequent!!!
