I believe this has reopened, but I live 200 miles away so can't confirm it !

This pub has been deleted from the good beer guide stating it has closed.
The pubs website also confirms this.
Surely it will reopen either with new owners or the original ones.
This was a popular well run pub and one well worth seeking out.
A dying breed and part of our heritage.
Any updates on this place?

I've heard this pub / owner maybe bankrupt. Anyone know for sure?

Absolutely superb rural gem. Ales were in great nick, a good choice of ciders and the atmosphere a delight . Excellent food and very busy but relaxed feel to the place. A bit off the beaten track so its free from those whose idea of a good pub is w'spoons to of place, and all the better for that. 10/10

Love, love, love this pub. Fabulous eclectic feel to the dining rooms and a really good atmosphere in the bar. Exmoor ales on draught and an excellent wine list. The evning meal and breakfast were beautifally cooked and delicious. Comfortable accommodation in a lovely room overlooking the stream. Can't fault the food or the service - or anything!

A little gem, on the edge of Exmoor, comfortable rooms and excellent breakfast. Friendly staff made us and the Dog very welcome. Traditional old fashioned Bar flagstone floors and low ceilings (I only hit my head twice), Good range of beers including Exmoor ales and Tribute, and cider on handpump, Somerset Thatchers Gold, and Cheddar Valley Scrumpy(6 %) Treat with care..
The food was excellent both nights we stayed, do not let that Chef go.
Overall a great place highly reccommended.

A very ordinary rural pub, not bad, but not great either. The food was fairly ordinary, and the beer far from tip top.
A nice setting, granted, but nice settings are 2 a penny in the west country.

Visited here in 2006. Really nice inn. I'm from London, but brought up in Hampshire, and I appreciate country pubs. Loved everything about this place - game hanging up round the bar, food and ale delicious. A dying breed. 10/10

Fan-dabby-dozy!! Great beer (Exmoor Gold always on!!)and great food. Fantastic atmosphere. Beautiful interior - shame smoking has been banned as you feel the urge to light up a pipe as soon as you're in the place.

A gem of a country pub. The rooms beyond the immediate (fairly small) bar area are mostly dedicated to eating, but that does not detract from a warm welcome and a good selection at the bar itself and if you do also eat here you are in for a treat. The excellent Exmoor Gold was supplemented by beers from Otter & Palmers, and also local ciders.
I had an overnight stay in the very comfortable accom, in a room overlooking the rapidly babbling brook coursing under the little stone bridge outside the window; b&b 75 for 2 pers, breakfast choices incl full english, haddock fishcakes, kippers, fruit compote.
Dinner was approaching restaurant price but easily justified by its quality; starters~7, mains~14, all six dishes eaten at our table were very, very good, all slooshed down with some decently priced sauvignon & merlot.
Probably a pub that you would usually aim for if eating or staying in the area, but the beer was great too, and an all-round thoroughly pleasant visit.

I was back again this winter after walking on Exmoor. This place is really worth seeking out. We finally tried some food at lunchtime and it was very good.

If driving there, I suggest approaching this pub from the south and not the west, as the southern road has more wide spots.

This rural gem is tucked away on the edge of Exmoor accessible only via narrow lanes. Up market rooms, meals and traditional style decor has not spoiled it. Deservedly proud and knowledgeable about its beer range - two Exmoor Ales and two Palmers brewery ales available on our visit, all in top condition.
