please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

You exit from a thick wooded area into the picturesque village area of West Chiltington. The pub has a number of inside areas that felt a little too modern. There are also some outdoor areas - a children's play garden next to the car park and a walled courtyard, where we sat. Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter is the regular ale. The guest beer was Sharp's Doom Bar. But, they did also have Weston's Old Rosie cider. The young barman was good enough to point out that it was 7%. Although, I did correct this statement to 7.3%, having consumed a fair amount previously! But, the bar staff were certainly friendly and chatty.

Visited this Pub today, appalling standard of food. Two course meal for 15.00 advertised as Roast Beef, Pork or Chicken was given a pork chop and piece of steak..... so send one back and for the mushroom starter....it was served with 2 pieces of dry bread with a tiny piece of goats cheese. An Aunt Bessie roast meal would be better value. We refused to pay for one meal. Will never revisit.

My cycling club visited this pub on 1 April for lunch. On a previous visit to plan the ride, I had had a fairly inexpensive pizza, but on this occasion I was told the pizzas were not available - only the rather expensive 2 and 3 course meals were. (2 courses for 15). However we later spotted a man at the bar eating a pizza, and on being challenged about this, the staff admitted that the pizzas were available after all - but by then it was too late; we had ordered the expensive meals. We visit a fair number of country pubs on our fortnightly rides, and know what sort of thing to expect. This place didn't come up to scratch. We won't be visiting again.

From December 2011 this pub has new owners and a new chef. The owners are a family of 3 generations and are working at making the pub a family pub. The new chef is wonderful and makes the most delicious deserts. I love the comfy atmosphere and especially the fire in the evenings :-)

Fond memories of visiting here for the bar billiards (none now, sadly).

Have visited this pub three times since the new owners took over, unfortunatly every time we have visited the food has been dreadful. First time had Roast Beef on a Sunday, Yorkshire Pudding rock hard, meat tough, veg soggy. Second time had Chocolate Brownie for dessert was absolutely rock hard could not eat. Third time had Pizza, you wouldn't think hard to cook - wrong! waited 45 minutes (pub not busy) Pizzas arrived bases were burnt to a cinder had to scrap off topping which was also burnt. Had cheesy chips, chips were hard and under cooked, also had onions rings, the fat was dripping off. We thought we would give it another try, third time lucky and all that, but never again staff are not even concerned that you have left bases of a Pizza, half finished meals and whole desserts. Pizza meal cost me and my husband 36, what a waste! You wait along time for your food and you never receive an apology. The times we have visited have not been peak or busy times so no excuse. Be prepared also to watch the chef have a fag outside the dining window - nice! West Chiltington deserves better!

This is a nice large pub. Friendly management and staff, good ales, good food, although be patient, it can take a while to arrive after ordering. But then, why worry, we just relaxed and enjoyed the roaring log fire and chesterfield wing back chairs! They have events lists on each table, both for the pub and local community. There's a decent size restaurant and a car park out the back.

I only go in this pub every couple of years or so but have always found it to be a pleasant village pub. This visit was for a friends birthday party which was catered for brilliantly. The current team seem to be doing a great job. Not a great choice of beers but both very drinkable.

Haven't been in for a long time, but the new owners offer take out service as well as cooking fabulous fresh food in house. One of the best steak and pepper sauce pies I've had in a long, long time. Good price too. Would highly recommend a visit.

Have avoided this pub in the past but with the Elephant & Castle closed gave it a try. Pleasantly surprised. Decent food and good service now make it well worth a visit.

I agree with the previous comment, at last we have a team running this lovely pub who care about their customers. Good beer, extensive menu and a warm welcome. Recommend you give it a try.

At last the pub is being run by a team who are giving it the right atmosphere for the village. The new chef served an excellent meal and catered for individual needs. A variety of quality real ales on tap. The Queen's Head is at long last, alive and well once again.

Just enjoyed an excellent Sunday roast washed down with a couple of well-conditioned pints of Harveys. The new landlord & landlady are very pleasant and attentive and our compliments to the chef. We will be back.

This pub is very welcoming. The owners are warm and friendly. If it is a quiet pub with good service, good food and a nice atmosphere then this is a great pub.
There is parking which is a bonus and is a real family pub.
I intend to go back again very soon and have one of their homemade pizzas which I believe are lovely.

The team from Fittleworth have failed .Pub was shut when I went . Locals say prices of beer and food was outrageous . Temporary Landlord going in . Thats about 5 landlords in as many years !

Now being run by the team from the Swan in Fittleworth and only reopened a week. The old public bar as been completely revamped and reminds me of a bar on the continent, i.e where you'd expect to get good food, good beer and good coffee all the time. We went last night for dinner, our first visit since the re-opening: Excellent food, great service, at a price you'd expect (not cheap, but worth it). The lounge bar still needs some work and they've just got the two real aleas at the moment, but they appear to be on the case. The other good news? They've already introduced the smoking ban, so we got home without stinking! I think it's going to keep getting better.
