please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The "Grand Union Classic Burger Bar & Cocktail Lounge" to give this place its full title, seems to think it's in Highgate.
I've sent them any email pointing out that the place is in no way in Highgate, but Kentish Town, but have had no responce from d'er management.
From what I've seen of it, dark & dingy as other Grand Union berger joints, I'm not going to even bother with the place.

The latest incarnation of this place is "Grand Union", only saw the name as I drove past haven't been inside to see the latest refit.
I'll have to have a wonder past/in sometime.

Yep, now called Vinum. Was a very profitable pub as the Highgate and the owners fell out and decided to split. Now has a fancy wine cellar with no one to share it with. Empty. Food overpiced and tiny portions. Try the Vine across the road, it's way better.

The new name is "Vinum Bar & Restaurant"
Not a hand pump in site... more of a restaurant, than a bar now.

found a great place to eat and drink the other night, big sofas great music, unexpensive bar food, the best homemade burgers ive ever tasted and only 5.85 with chips. Huge wine list and a great selection of beers. The restaurant food looked amazing must come back for dinner with friends.

Its open again, called VENIUM (or something, I can't quite remember!). Lots of taps, but everything was off, amusingly, so stuck to bottles. Now mostly a dining-area with a so-so bar attached, both of which were almost empty on a saturday night. Also, the Wifey said the toilets were disgusting. Still, early days yet.......

The Highgate is currently closed for refurbishment. No date appears to have been set for its reopening.

Had lunch in here a while back and wasn't overly impressed. Didn't think the food that was good despite the price. Service was generally pretty poor and the shabby-chic decor didn't float my boat. Plenty of gastropubs in North London, and most of them are better than this.

Not a pub, a trendy bar. However a trendy bar with fantastic food, friendly staff ( believe it or not ) relaxed atmosphere and bags of space. Mid week is perfect for relaxing meal and booze. To be recommended.

Dropped into the Highgate last night (Oct 22'03) for a coffee and heart-starter after supper at the nearby Vine(much improved)
Nice vibe, barman who (said he)used to be the mover and shaker behind the Fish chain of restaurants.
Interesting to see that several other diners from the Vine were also slobbing out on the leather soafas.

only ever seems to get busy between 11 and midnight on a saturday. rest of the time it is great to chill out in. they have those 'wanna be a model' type barstaff too. they serve you when they feel like it as long as they still look cool. but hey, still pretty nice place

This is a modern bar. It serves great food upstairs (sunday lunch is really good)and downstairs there is a more extensive menu.
The service is attentive and the staff are really friendly, huge windows to watch the day go by !
