Pleasant enough place and the number 60 (Midhurst-Chichester) bus stops outside. They had three ales (Otter, Summer Lightning and another light one I can't recall). had a few pints of the Otter which was okay. Most of the (all empty) tables were 'reserved' for diners with only a few stools at the bar and one small table by the door free.

Roadside pub just outside Midhurst. The bar area itself is quite nice and there is a separate dining room at the rear. Bar staff were friendly. But they were adopting that rather annoying habit of serving locals at the same time as ourselves, despite us having waited longer. Ales available were Bowman Swift One, Upham Merrylegs, Skinner's Betty Stogs & Flack Manor Flack's Double Drop.

An update on my last review. Bar staff on my latest visit very knowledgeable about the beers being served. Dark Star Hophead very good. Food good quality and reasonably priced. Could do with lights in the car park.

Food still very good here. Beer ok but a pity the landlady doesn't take more interest in what the beers are and where they come from

Although i live 25 miles from the Greyhound i always stop off here when coming back from the coast. Never eaten here but it does look fantastic and at reasonable prices. Its worth the journey for the 2 pints ( or 4-5 if her indoors is driving ) of th summer lightning alone. Bar staff /service excellent. 8.5/10.

without doubt the pub of the weekend for me. Stepping in here is just great. The low ceilings give this small pub real character. The atmosphere was quiet, with light music. Beer is served from either handpulls or by gravity. The fire lended a cosy feel to the place, and you could well imagine spending a whole afternoon here relaxing and getting away from the stresses of modern life. I hope pubs like this continue to survive.

I was in here with a couple of friends one Friday recently. The place was heaving early evening, full of locals having a meal. We ate there and the food was okay, big portions, not too dear. The beer range was okay and the ale was a mix of local(ish) - Langhams - and far off (Thwaites). The ale could have been in better condition. All in all not a bad place but my visit was marred by someone urinating by the front garden wall and then the same person (a woman) throwing up in the garden.

after my previous post they do in fact seem too be making better use of there free house status.
I had a excellent pint of summer lightning a few months ago, and was recently pleased to have a few more. a vast improvement on the Green King range available on my visit last year.

Excelent fresh produce food. With a wide range of meals for your pallet. Tribute, Ruddles, London Pride are just some of the good ales on offer..
With a play area for the children, large seating to the front and back, This pub is an excelent place to take the family for a summers day/evening!
The staff are very welcoming, chatty and helpfull. Offering a relaxed proffesional service to all.
A new conservatory has also been added for dining and functions, this is truly 110% spectacular!!
I would return again and again with friends and family and reccomend throughout. thank you Mike!

I have just returned from this pub, it is the second time I have been there in two weeks. I just wanted to see if it was as good as it had been on the first occasion.
It was, the food is brilliant, all local produce or suppliers. Reasonably prices. They also have Greene King Abbot, IPA and Ruddles County as well as other real ales. The staff are really helpful and can even tell you when to nip out to catch the bus. I live about an hour away but this has gone to the top of my list for food, really excellent.
