Nice pub, good selection of well kept ales, friendly knowledgeable staff. Well worth a visit.

Having been past this pub for years on the bus during my visits to the Island, I finally had the chance to venture inside for an ale the other night. It was early evening and quiet - a selection of ales available including a Bass xxxx mild. Myself and mate enjoyed a Hobgoblin. Nothing overly fancy about the place, which I like. The TV in the main bar area could be a distraction, so sat in the other room. Look forward to returning.

The new landlord, Steve, has refurbished this pub and the new chef is great. Food is affordable and very tasty. Beers are varied and of excellent quality especially the real ales, Bass and Hobgoblin.
There is entertainment too on a regular basis and sprts fans will enjoy the large TV though personally I prefer non-tv pubs.

Visited early evening and drank lager as the selection of ales was minimal and I'd worked up a thirst working in my mum's garden. Now doing food which looked good but the menu's were photocopied and were filthy. Put you off the food which as I say did look rather scrummy.

Will go back when I visit Mum again to see if the ale selection is better.

Very quiet when i visited, but that didnt detract from this place. Friendly service, a cheap but tasty bar snack and a great pint of Hobgoblin, as well as Whitbread MILD.

Popped over the road from Osborne House and couldnt believe that there was nobody in

Welcome back Steve. The beer and pub is very good, and the new food is worth a try.

Had a pint of Bass and a cheese ploughman's here for lunch at the weekend at a very reasonable price. Much more to my taste (and pocket) than the tea-room at Osborne over the road which I was visiting!

The no.4 bus from Ryde stops outside the front door.

First visit today - very pleasant staff and atmosphere.
Home made pies 1 and very tasty - Curry, Meat & Potatoe, Fishermans or Chilli - cant beat that!

Goblin beer on tap very tasty.

I will go back

Under New Management and on the up! The beer is excellent, well kept and a good price. The food even better, well worth a try, we went to their first curry-night on Friday and you got a pint, curry and loads of extras for under 8 quid, and it was really superb, as are the 2 meals for 12 in the week. Try it soon.

Used to be a great pub this, good beer/food and a real locals pub, prime location opposite Osborne House and should serve the whole upper part of the town. The latest managers are however seeming to be upsetting a lot of locals, and I wasnt impressed by the quality and cost of the beer or food. Cooky by name not by nature, biggest meals in the world mind well so he said, and he once cooked for the Queen, Micheal Jackson and ET.
