I can see what their trying to do. But for a live music venue it is very small!!! Normal GK dross beers. Friendly enough. 4/10

Putting a billboard outside saying "Old Speckled Hen - 3.25" kinda put me off going in... then again, that's Greene King for you.

This pub has recently changed hands and been greatly refurbised, the bottom bar is now o pole dancing and lap dancing bar. The top bar is still a music venue which hosts many live bands and diverse events. The top bar has avery mixed and diverse clientle however they are inately from the alternative community and are mainly musos. This pub has a good range of beers ,wines, and spirits and will shortly be adding real ale to its attractive stock range. There is also a pool table, dart board and juke box in the top bar

Ok, firstly the picture above is some years out of date!
This pub is now almost two pubs in one, the lower bar - known as Lynotts Bar is the smaller of the two and is now a Pole Dancing establishment (non-nude!) whilst the upper bar is mostly given over to being a live music venue. It caters for the Rock/Alternative musical genre and crowd and is a hit with many of the younger Goths, Punks, Emos etc. Sometimes has some decent cover bands on and local acts as well as open mike nights. Not the cheapest of venues but it is open later into the night.

Been going to the George quite regularly for the past 3 years, and it's always enjoyable.
Friendly people, decent tunes, and really good food. A good place to be.

Oi! Steve. just paid third visit on your say so. Great stuff!. Kind of school uniform bash.bloody good laugh and NO hassle or friction. This pub has transformed so much in a short space of time. I urge anyone with a sense of fun and a liking for any kind of rock music to try it out. it will not disappoint. Steve may be an old git, but he knows what he likes and he isn't wrong on this occasion.gotta give it 9.9

I too have used this pub on steve's recommendation and quite frankly it does exactly what it says on the tin. The bar staff are brill,Gavin & Zoe are top and the food, music, atmosphere etc rate 11 out of ten, in my humble opinion.

This pub is great!!!. Taken over by GAVIN & ZOE in sept 2005. Bottom bar is now called "Lynotts bar" in memory of the great PHIL of Thin Lizzy. Any rock music fans visiting Andover MUST pay a visit here, It's the place to go and no, i am not on the payroll!!

The George is the closest thing Andover has to an alternative/rock pub.
It has friendly staff and runs weekly events, be it live music every Thursday to alternative discos on Fridays and Saturdays.
Cheap tasty food is now also served, if you're looking for a classy trendy night out, go somewhere else, if you want to mix with musicians, wierdos and friendly people, then this is the place to go, my kinda pub!
