This pub is certainly no longer expensive. However, it's not got much else going for it. Has the feel of a pub that was once thriving, but that has been allowed to rot away. All but one of the handpumps were turned over. Feels a bit grotty, but isn't as bad as The Chequers in this regard.

This pub is expensive, but you can get local ales here.
The pub has space and you can segregate yourself for a quiet drinkif you wish.
It can suffer from being smokey, but this will change on the 1st July 2007.
Be prepared to be stared at as you walk in through the front door - happens every time!

A bit of an atmosphere last time I went in to the Butchers it might be a one off!half the pub was full of 30 something lads spoiling for a fight the other half full of 30 something gals spoiling for a fight, otherwise a nice boozer.

This pub is OK. It has been taken over by a single middle aged man who is determined to keep in exactly the same as the previous owner!! Seems odd to me... But it isn't the same - apart from the prices! It is the most expensive pub in Witney, but it is pleasant and friendly and if you are rich then thats the place to visit!
