Good, ordinary village pub that is worth a visit if you are in the area. Tried the Brakspear Bitter: acceptable, but was past its best on this visit. They had Oxford Gold too and the excellent Real brand of handcooked crisps. Sitting outside in the late sunshine, tempting curry smells wafted down the street from The Memories of Bengal and mixed with the exhaust from cigarette smokers. Chatty locals drifted in and out for a quick drink. Quite a large restaurant area. Liked the place.

Nicely bedded in with the new management. Beers are Oxford Gold and Brakspear bitter. Food is pretty nice, including deals on mon-thur (2 courses for a tenner).

Nice pub, comfortable, real fire, etc.
Hobgoblin beer was however dreadful (vinegary).
Coffee came in a cafetiere, nice.

Dropped in for a drink on our way to the local Indian, we sat in the lounge area and went to order our drinks. The young lady behind the bar did not seem happy at all no smile or welcome, on returning to our seats all we could smell was the overpowering smell of the toilets behind us. yuk

Brakspear on Hobgoblin on, on a lunchtime midweek visit. Landlady cheerful and friendly, young barmaid a bit less so!

Brakspear was very good. Several people eating, and it looked (and was reported as) very nice.

Quite a large pub, with 3 large rooms. One with pol table, onefor eating, one a bar room. Bar itself looks ike a modern adition and not very attractive, but nice beams and bric a brac throughout the pubs. Slighty frayed at the edges, but cosy. Large car park and seating outside. A nice pub.

Ideal local pub, has the bar split in two, one half with music & pool table and younger crowd the other half quiet and comfortable with an older crowd keeps everyone happy. Very welcoming management at present. Regular pub hours in this part, could be open earlier on weekdays, doors open at 6pm.

Food is of your basic pub sort however its very well executed, i've never not enjoyed a meal.

Beer is good, Brakspears Bitter as a regular and another ale pump that varys month to month.
