Another pleasant Fuller's pub. Again the HSB was spot on. Service was a bit slow as they only had two people serving on a very bust Sunday afternoon. It's worth a look.

Excellent Fuller's pub. Great food. Great service. Decent beer. Highly recommended.

Nice town centre pub, good atmosphere and a reasonable range of beers, obviously geared up for food but a drinkers pub too - and the beer's cheaper than at the Mailmans down the road...

Revisited this large pub and found still a good atmosphere, 4 real ales on the handles my HSB and friend's Fortyniner were excellent as usual. Food quality and variety has improved greatly, large portions too, many drinking diners. A pub I can visit in the tourist season and still expect to get a seat

Unfortunately food was not good when I visited - ex freezer steak pie slice was drowning in gravy with a tiny portion of mash swimming alongside it with seasonal veg - again a tiny portion
(I mean small) of 'mixed veg' (again ex freezer) consisting mainly of turnip, cabbage and minced carrot .... yuck.
Seasonal ! Haven't they heard that veg can be sourced all year round these days ...... an unbelievable price of 9.95 for that.
Would at least have expected the usual bowl of fresh carrots, cauli etc for that price.

Large pub conveniently situated in the middle of the High Street. Its a pleasant enough place with a carpeted bar and a low beamed ceiling, a separate restaurant area and a small courtyard. It was very busy on a recent Monday night, although that seemed mostly due to the quiz night that was on.

There looked to be an extensive pub grub menu at fairly reasonable prices, and a specials board as well. Somehow in spite of all this it lacked a little bit of character. It perhaps gives the impression of being part of a corporate chain, although Im not sure who actually owns it.

Beers on offer were Ringwood Best and Forty-niner, Hop Back Summer Lightning and Doom Bar. The solitary cider was Thatchers Gold.

We had our staff xmas meal at this pub,11th Dec 2009,i was really looking forward to it,but the food ws disgusting, very disappointing, the pub itself is very charming,if they get the food right, could be a little goldmine.Hope the lanlord reads this.

went here 10 years ago (room 1 that of the squeaky bed!!) and loved it.
2nd visit in Aug 2009 disgraceful! room was dingy and had the odour of a smokers room heavily masked with air freshener. shower was mouldy and postage stamp towells.Alarm clock brown with tobacco staining, even the visitors book was neglected.
A beautiful memory ruined. do NOT stay at this pub

oh dear, what has happened to this pub??, a few years ago this was a great pub, good range of ales interesting food, nice staff, but now it's not very average fullers beers and microwave food, won't be going back

Went in for a drink only, four real ales available, the HSB was superb but so it should be at 3 a pint. Beer was expertly poured to the brim, the bar staff were helpful and courteous. I went in the week, and although there was food being served, I was glad to see the pub filling up from about 7.30pm with drinkers. A traditional interior with beams and a resident ghost (apparently) it has a traditional atmosphere and has escaped gastration so far.

We've stayed at this pub for a long weekend once a year for the last five years. Each time we've had a fantastic stay, until the last visit.....never again! We were in a different room to normal this time and it was shocking. Dirty, hard bed, shower literally trickled. On our last night we had a knock on the door at 11pm asking us to pay our bill! to which I asked them politely to wait til the morning!!
The food could only be discribed as re-heated, tasteless muck!
On a good note, the staff were very friendly and helpful.
A great place for a few drinks, but avoid staying there and eating what they discribe as food!

I recently visited this pub and had several drinks and meals there. There are new landlords who are just the lovelist of people, the staff are very helpful too.
The food was absolutely gorgeous, especially the homemade burgers and their speciality venison pie!

The Monday night quiz was really enjoyable, the compare is good and makes it a fun quiz.

A very cosy looking pub. Didn't spend long in there, but Monday quiz night was underway. Quiz semed popular if not quite hard and the quiz master had a very pompous and annoying voice!

Large, but cosy traditional pub on Lyndhurst's busy High Street. Good selection of real ales. Food available all day, at moderate prices. Pool table in a separate room. Can get crowded on summer evenings.
