Only Doom Bar and Hellfire on (which was an excellent pint) but it is a reserve your table eatery as opposed to a drinker's establishment - and when jolly hubby and wifey and their 2.1 brats turned up 'for a spot of lunch' and hadn't booked meant the smaller drinking zone became smaller. A few minutes of 'Stop chewing your hair Jocasta or you won't get your fishcakes' and 'Jemima pleeeease stop screeching it isn't very clever' had me out walking to the next pub despite the torrential downpour outside.

Yet another very pleasant and good value lunch at this popular pub a few miles outside Dover!
Had some excellent "Hengist" brewed by the Wantsum Brewery , Canterbury!

Since the re-opening in 2011 I have been there several times and have had excellent beer and food each time. It is unbelievable that you get this excellent food for prices similar to national chain mediocrity. Highly recommended.

Been here three times now. Each time the food and the service were excellent. They have a good range of dishes and seem to stick to the winning formula of 'keep it straight forward and use really good ingredients'. They welcome families with children but we weren't disturbed by the kids there on our visits because the landlord provided small table-top activities for them while they were waiting. Simple but effective!

Visited for Sunday lunch yesterday and the food was excellent and good value (as we suspected from the packed car park). Staff were friendly and efficient. Serves a large and interesting range of 'country wines' (birch, blackberry, etc) and is also a non-smoking pub.
