please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Awful place to drink at any time of the week, but I've always found pubs around this area to be generally bad so it's a case of picking the least bad! This is therefore one of the "better" ones around the area and we usually end up in here for a bad night

Hope this makes sense!

stopped for a pint on the way home from covent garden, was pleasant enough, found a table, was busy but not heaving. then we spotted the mice, they were running through tables, round people's feet who were eating, on notifying staff members no concern was shown. I definately will not be going back unless they sort this problem swiftly.

All Bar Ones are pretty terrible, but for this place to have a lower average rating than The Boadicea is excessively harsh.

As said previously, this is you average All Bar One with the normal crowd that these pubs attract.

The usual range of premium lager is available along with keg Pride and East Green.

Not surprisingly, there are far better pubs in the area.

for unsuspecting tourists and chav females in their primark fashions. All Bore One is just another chain pub in the faceless and money grabbing M&B. avoid at all costs.

Boring! You've seen one you've seen them all. You'd expect it to be different in Covent Garden but still seems to attract the chav element.

I actually really enjoyed this bar, we went just before christmas and it was quite empty. Not that expensive and food was ok. friendly staff.

Bright and airy like all the AB1's but has gone downhill in the last couple of years, with poor service and iffy food. Friend of mine had the chicken sandwich in this one and spent 2 days in hospital with salmonella.

When this first opened a few years ago - it was pretty good so far as All Bar One goes, and good service was always something you could expect from them.

But things really have gone downhill - the drinks are fine - but if you are planning to eat you will need to be patient and the food is not as it was at all. The waitresses are quite good at ignoring you, so much so it is easier to go to the bar and order your own food, somehow you feel like you are disturbing their day just by being there. This particular branch is just very badly managed, it doesn't put me off going to the others though, but I won't be going back in this one for some time.

I tried this place on the same day as going to the other ABO in Leicester Sq. However it is much better, but still crowded and there is a young Italian waitress who is on a different planet!

She sits you down - asks for your order, and then just forgets about you! Comes back again and does the same routine all over again - then walks around ignoring you, and pretending she did never saw you, while everyone else is getting served. Surreal!

The food can be good - when it does arrive. But do not hold your breath.

It's an All-Bar-One so you can pretty much take the following as a given;

1) Bland and sterile pseudo wine bar.
2) Expensive.
3) Devoid of anything approaching an atmospshere.
4) Full of drunk siuts who think they're "IT".

To echo the other comments; you are much better to go somewhere which offers the opposite of an AB1.

I find it alarming that people actually think of these places as their "Work local" or as a real pub. Espcially when if you just open your eyes there are pub in the area which as just so, so much better.

Totally agree with the comment below there are much better pubs in the vicinty than this faceless chain bar

I disagree. You can grumble, even in this area. You are a few minutes walk from two truly great pubs - the Lamb & Flag and the Harp - and a few half decent ones.

Don't be so unimaginative as to think this kind of place is acceptable ANYWHERE. Even the most touristy parts of London have good pubs - you just have to make the effort to go to them.

not much really wrong with this apart from the faceless "chain image" which they all have. Drinks wen had were excelent and, as stated below, staff were really friendly and hard working. Given it location you cannot grumble!

Had well cooked fish cakes and decent wine on a lunch time visit.Service good and staff friendly.Being a lot smaller than the average All Bar One there is a rather cosy atmosphere;impressive range of draught lagers.

Rubbish like most chain bars and all All Bar Ones. Avoid and go somewhere else. Preferably another area as you are on a hiding to nothing in these parts!
anonymous - 2 Feb 2006 12:09
Yeah I know it's part of the huge chain but there's something a bit more welcoming to this one! It's smaller, cosier and the staff there have time to talk to you rather than take your money, smile and run
