i love this pub! what a great atmosphere since the old management- i really couldnt decide if i should go or not bearing in mind how it used to be (you'll only understand if you'd been haha) and yet now i've made a buddy who lives nearby and it's a great place as a local, ya know?

No real ale ,only chemical fizz and far too many pool tables.A rough looking pub with no obvious redeeming features.Pass on by.

Good points. Close to Alperton Tube Stn. Serves lunches 12-3 (not Sundays), 2 for 5.90, fish&chips, scampi n chips, burgers etc. Fosters 2.60 per pint. John Smiths.
Small beer garden beside canal. Staff seem OK.
Bad points (from my point of view). Pool table, Sports TV. No decent or real ales. Looks a bit run-down.
General Observations
Next to busy road. Customers predominantly male, 35+, white, locals. Seems to be trying to improve business but somehow not quite hard enough, has potential though.

If it weren't for one thing, this pub would be ideal for a refreshing pint after, during, (or even before) a walk or cycle along the canal. But it doesn't serve real ale. That's a deal breaker for me, sorry.

It was taken over by a company called Beer Barrel Ltd in June 2005. The company also own the nearby Panthers restaurant. It has been refurbished with some nautical bits & bobs. The owners are of Indian origin, and now most of the staff are polish girls who are all very polite.
The pub still gets quite busy and still has the resident DJ. The food is good and they have a lunchtime special offer of 2 for 4.95. Some of the food is of Indian style which reflects the management.
Still no real ale, and they've got rid of the golf machine!

This used to be a really scummy pub back in the late 90's, does anyone know how it is now since the new management have taken over? I still can't quite bring myself to go back!
