Met friends here before heading to Koko across the road. Was relatively busy but the staff managed to serve in pretty quick fashion and in good manner. I was pleasantly surprised by the draught products available that were not ales, very impressive. Estrella Dam, Brooklyn Lager, Red Stripe, Erdinger and about 10 more...

What a pleasant surprise this place is. I've been in this pub under different names many times and nearly avoided it as a potential before a gig at Koko last week, glad I didn't. I noted that it had been done up as I walked through the doors. Nice, contemporary look, 'so what', I thought. The bar was busy, but I was served within a minute or two. The bar staff were quick, efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. I was joined by my party and got a round in, similar service. So we decided to the give the food a go. Cheap and decent. This wasn't the time to pay 14 for a main. The food was a little slow out of the kitchen but it did the job. By this point we'd been in there a couple of hours, enjoying the busy atmosphere. I went to the bar for a final round and the original barman remembered my order!? Good lad. Would use this place again.

Now called "The Lyttelton Arms" - very nice - great range of beers, very clean and nicely done up..........

Had a 3 hr stop over at Euston, took a walk and found this pub now called the Lyttleton arms, had a tasty pint of old speckled hen and tried the menu.
I found the food superb, the staff very attentive, and enthusiastic about the food on offer.
Overall,I enjoyed my short visit to this pub,and would happily recommend to anyone visiting this part of London.

This place is now called the Lyttleton arms after the late jazz musician Humphrey Lyttleton , it is a vastly improved pub with 5 real ales priced between 3 and 3.40 a pint , an interesting selection of draft and bottled lagers including brooklyn and sierra nevada , the cider selection could be better and i have yet to eat there but first impressions are favorable . Will return next week .

Bland but inoffensive pub opposite Mornington Crescent and Koko. Prone to crowding, slightly too expensive (in fairness, not noticably more than any other dozen or so similar establishments in the area), and service isn't particularly quick. However, bar staff are generally good once they actually get to you, the range of lagers is fair (only one real ale though) and the place is very clean and tidy.
Usual TVs showing Sky Sports News and nothing much to particularly commend it as a destination pub, then again nothing to really deter you from popping in for a couple. The food looked pretty good for standard pub fare. The atmosphere is not unpleasant but pretty unremarkable.
All in all, neither one to enjoy nor endure and the kind of place you only drop into once in a while due to its convenient location, before heading off to wherever you are ending up that evening.

I'm guessing there's been changes because my experience is the complete opposite to that of other posters. Lovely decor, couple of hand pumps of which The Pride was fine. Bargain prices and my veggie burger and chips was very tasty, only 3.50 too.

This pub is on a busy corner opposite Mornington Crescent tube station making the limited outside seating very uncomfortable. Granted its not the managers fault where the pub is located, but I wouldnt want to sit out there.

Pride and plenty of standard lager are available if you can get served. I had to wait a while and then when I had asked for my pint the barman was distracted and forgot that he was serving me and went onto someone else. There were 2 barmen and only 6 or 7 people at the bar.

The 2 plasma screens showing Sky Sports news all day, loud music, illustrated women and old soaks all added to the disappointing experience.

Until last Friday Id not been in here since it was an Edwards. I didnt like it then and I dont like it now.

I thought this pub looked clean if bland. Then I had a curry in there, and spent the next two hours vomiting at a friend's flat. DO NOT EAT OR DRINK HERE.

Pubs like this are now all too commonplace. Take one traditional old pub that is down on its luck, call in the interior designers, rip it to shreds, stick in bright lights, a couple of plasma screens and a pool table and hey presto, one faceless, soulless modern pub aimed at people who really cant be bothered to walk an extra hundred yards in search of anything with a bit of charisma. Standard keg selection, in fact nothing of interest whatsoever unless you want a game of pool, watch footie or are just trying to get a cheap pint in before being ripped off in Koko opposite (thats the Camden Palace for you oldies like me). Functional but uninteresting and boring and not a place I can see myself returning to in a hurry.

Almost minimalist, this with its extreme aircon chill, makes this a soulless place unless lots of nice people turn up.
Beer - not really, with a blue moon you may get ale, otherwise its frozen guiness and lager joint.
For a better boozer, see White House in Carlisle, formmerly also know as 'The Crescent'.

I can only base my comments on this pub on a couple of experiences before gigs at Koko, which were both nice enough, so I'd recommend going here before going into the venue. It can get pretty crowded, though, so be prepared to stand.

The most schizophrenic pub I've known. On Friday nights it's fairly pleasant, filled with young people meeting up before going to Koko. But on other nights it can be anything from a handful of wine-soaked old men, to rowdy sports fans, to a pathetic bunch of snogging couples who can't get organised to go to a decent pub, let alone a decent night out. It has more tv screens than types of beer on tap, the decor is garish, the music rubbish. Avoid, unless you're going to Koko.

Not bad. I've only been the once before a Babyshambles gig at Koko the other Friday but it seemed like a good place to go before heading to the venue with a good atmosphere.

Great place for a few before a mash-up across the road at the Camden Palace (or Koko as it is known these days).
Speights - 29 Mar 2005 14:37
I got this pub before my gigs at Koko, as it's just around the corner, and it's a nice, quite little place, not busy!!!
Kerei - 15 Jan 2005 23:20
Decent enough pub for watching football in.
Badger - 8 Oct 2004 12:32
I have been to over 300 pubs this year and this one is the worst. The poorest pint of London Pride I have ever tasted, a barman who was too lazy to understand Drambuie (cranberry he repeated 3 times til my friend gave up), cheap alcopops offers all over the walls, dirty, no chalk on the pool table, broken cues and the biggest crime of all, one pound fifty for a game of pool. There, I feel better now I have that off my chest.

John McC - 10 Sep 2004 18:43
Quite a spacious layout and I'm impressed to see a pool table in the corner. However when it came around to choosing a beer, the ale was off (not sure if it's ever on), the Staropramen was off, and the John Smiths was off. Unbelievable - I eventually settled for a Strongbow.

And then left.

Julio, the manager is the best and Alessandra, the great italian waitress is for sure a breth of fresh air. Thomson???? All of them!!!
pongui - 24 Feb 2004 17:20
not a bad place since its changed hands, good drink offers, pool table which is quite rare in camden, and background music which aint to loud.
baz tav - 17 Oct 2003 12:40
good laugh of sundays 1.50 a pint and a good pool table
anonymous - 28 Jul 2003 17:17
has been repainted and renamed "The Crescent"

As a young Canadian working at GLH and living on Park Village East the Southampton was my local. It was warm and welcoming. My colleagues and I used it every lunch hour. Many fond memories.

I do believe this Edwards pub has now closed.
Rob - 26 Jun 2003 14:38
Noisey pub, on any given weekday evening - rammed with the low-life of the large Thompson Holidays building over the road. Replete with surly bouncers for keeping to smackheads out. Best avoided.
