Looked a nice gastropub with range of beers. Sadly we never found out. Despite there being plenty of empty dining tables we arrived at eight pm last Saturday, told they weren't taking 'walk-ins' to 9pm. We leave. We come back at 9. There are still plenty of tables empty. We are told the kitchen can't accommodate us to 9.30pm. We leave. I hadn't come across anything like this since the days of the old GDR. The moral is if you want eat here you had better book.

Re-opened in Dec 2011, have visited twice and found great range of beers including Thornbridge Jaipur, Wolf, Oakham and Humpy Dumpty. We hesitated to order food as it is at the top end of pub prices, but really glad we did, it's fantastic. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Went there this evening. Now a pub bistro type of place. Well-kept Wherry.

25 people in there mostly younger types. The landlords might have found the right formula for the Reindeer at last.

Now owned by Elgoods, trying to be an up market eatery with expensive beer, I wish them luck, its in the wrong place for that!

Deserves to be better patronised.

Decent beer and food.

We were quite disappointed on this visit, the beer range has diminished and the beers we had were not in great nick unfortunately. A quick one and move on.

Late review from October. Called in for a carvery to find it had changed hands and no longer did Sunday carveries, but the food we had was excellent, but agree that the Elgoods Golden Newt could have been better. It was busy that Sunday lunchtime, so maybe they go for the food.

Very quiet on our visit at 7 on a Friday evening, maybe the news hasn't got out yet? Great selection of Elgoods. Timothy Taylor Totanic was good. Golden Newt not so good - fresh from a particularly flat and lifeless pond was how one of my mates described it. Hard to rate a pub highly which has promise, but no customers nor atmosphere.

Good news ... recently re opened. V Clean refurbished look and selling food. 5 Elgood ales + 2 others.

Called by one Thursday evening August 08. The pub was closed and seemingly had been for some weeks. Piles of rubbish around.

Excellent pub serving well-kept Elgood Ales. Barman very friendly and helpful. A pub certianly worth visiting!

A friendly and welcoming Elgood's owned pub. The barman was friendly and seemed quite experienced behind the bar. He served another customer before he took our food order but asked if it was ok. This was our second pub on yesterdays pre football ale crawl. Five Elgood's beers were on and 3 genuine guests. I had the Black Dog Mild which was very good. We decided to make this our food pub and most of our group ordered the cheese burger and chips. This did not take to long to arrive and was quite tasty. A large screen was showing the early Premiership match.

A year on since my last visit and things just keep getting better. The full range of Elgoods beers are served along with three guests from Micros like Castle Rock. Food is still excellent value for money. the Staff are friendly and cheery too.

Called into this pub as we wanted a carvery for our Sunday dinner, and it was a good meal. We enjoyed a couple of Elgood beers while having our meal, and were tempted into trying an excellent desert too. The staff were polite and friendly

Very good Elgoods pub - probably their best along with Waggon & Horses in Milton. Only suffers against strong competition from free houses. Friendly, and exceptional Christmas display - a must !

Friendly and extremely helpful staff make this a very welcoming pub. The beer (Elgood's) is very well looked after with at eleast half a dozeb real ales available.

The food is terrific and reasonably priced - and watch out for the two magicians who frequent the place - they're amazing!

Elgoods tied pub recently (actually it has probably been well over a year) taken over by the former landlord & lady of the Micawbers.

As you might expect the main beers are Elgoods and these are exceptionally well looked after. There is normally a guest beer or 2 on offer as well.

Plenty of big screens if you're a football fan.

Also, there is a decked area behind the pub, so you don't need to sit out in the street.

Lovely food at a good price, very friendly staff, no beer garden but a couple tables out the front to sit and have a drink at, a very pleasant atmosphere.
