Had a better experience than my previous visit. Friendly staff and a full range of Fullers beers. Neatly laid out and the toilets upstairs are very smart!!
Still prefer the place as it was but hey ho.

Was disappointed to find the layout had altered since my visit a year ago. Fuller's seem to be putting their stamp on the place more and the atmosphere felt different, more corporate.
The staff were all dressed the same and I didn't like the new furniture much. It didn't help the place was busy and with the staff occupied on food as much drink getting served took longer than usual.

Great pub to sit outside on a warm evening. Real ale is hit-and-miss.

this was my favourite pub , but today was a big let -down , no food monday or tuesdays which in the middle of the pantiles wasnt a good decision , why not a basic menu on slow days ? between 12 and 3 ? wonderful wooden floor and bar but not well maintained , this is such a lovely buliding , what a shame .

A Fullers pub with a mix of Fullers and Gales beers. No Harvey's Sussex anymore which is a shame. Still quite busy with a mix of ages and gender amongst the clientele though I wonder whether the place has suffered from people deserting to the nearby Ragged Trousers.

Scores high for pub grub alone. Good selection of beer OK crowd, I expected more of a tourist trap in the Pantiles, but was surprised. Might be different during the weekend. But worth a pint or two.

A lively place with a mix of clientle. I enjoy using this pub in the summer when I can sit outside in the warm evenings- not that that has happened much this year!
Harveys Sussex and several Fullers beers were on. The HSB tasted very good! A friendly place with plenty of cards and leaflets advertising local entertainments.

A good pub, selling good beer. I don't know why my wife and I didn't go back, really.

Somehow we always walked past the Duke of York, can't explain why. But yesterday after looking in vain in the Pantiles for a simple lunch we went in and realised what we had been missing. Good Beer (Doom Bar) good simple food - excellent Wild Boar Sausage and Mash. Excellent very friendly and helpfull service and good value - we will be back.

I wasn't expecting much from this pub given its tourist trap location but the beer was perfectly pleasant and the food was good and good value. Service was very positive & friendly too.

Excellent pub. Harveys Best is always on but also Timothy Taylor's Landlord from time to time. The latest time recently it was truly supurb!

A pleasant place for a drink - bang in the middle of the historic Pantiles and great in the summer. Usually a few different ales on to everywhere else which makes it a bit more interesting. Have ended up here on several evenings after visiting other Tunbridge Wells pubs - good atmosphere

Good pub in an historic setting. Friendly with fine beer. Harveys Sussex always seems to be on.
Like using this one in the summer after a day at the cricket. One of the highlights is to sit in the evening sun discussing the days play. A couple of tables outside but plenty of space available on the nearby low wall if the tables are full.

Situated slap bang in the middle of the Pantiles so gets very busy with tourists in the summer. At other times however this is a great pub. Clean and nicely furnished, good beer, good food, welcoming staff and friendly locals. Always handy for a brief refresher when Mrs Red is shopping!

What a great pub - a proper boozer with great beer, friendly bar staff, decent clientele and plenty of atmosphere. The Harveys is excellent too. Definetly the best place for a decent pint in town.

Without doubt the best pub in Tunbridge Wells. Nice old pub interior, with open fire, perfect for wet winter days, and sitting outside on the Pantiles of a summer evening is really nice.
Beer has always been reasonable.

A great pub if a little quiet sometimes on winter evenings. Nice interior, good beer and friendly staff. The best place in TW for a drink outside in the summer. I understand that the people who run the Ragged Trousers - another great place - are taking it over but have no plans to make substantial changes.

A really good old fashioned pub, been in 3 times now and always had good beer, along with the Grove Tavern these are the 2 best pubs in T Wells.

The best pub in that part of Tunbridge wells dont know if that is saying much though

Used to drink here years ago, just moved back to Tunbridge wells, sampled this pub. Landlord very obnoxious, full of his own importance, thinks he is doing you a favour serving you. Shame, used to have a really good atmosphere. seems to knock other pubs in vicinity.

One of the rudest landlords I have met - never smiles and has no idea about customer service or running a local! Such a shame as The Duke used to be one of the best pubs in TW, but I would rather spend my money elsewhere now.

Good boozer. Always a messy night in there!

The grand old Duke of York, he had ten thousand men, he marched them up to the top of the hill and he marched them down again. When they were up they were up...........need i say more-cracking pub.
