Regarding the food at this pub I think you will observe that there were very many good reviews up until the end of 2009. I can concur with this as we had quite a few meals here until about April 2010. Then for some reason the chef was changed, and now the food is dreadful!!! Don't think about eating here until they acquire a new chef. IMHO.

Just had a meal here tonight (13 Oct 2010) The food is lousy microwaved rubbish, with so much of the menu unavailable. The chef here deserves to be shot!!!! The Speckled hen was quite nice though. But whatever you do don't eat here until they get a decent chef.

Couldn't agree more to Hotrod28s comments, my family went on same day spending 65 on meals and drinks, first two meals arrived cold, sent them back and complained, Huffy little girl who took them away had a hissy fit, and attitude, asked to speak to the manager!!!! WHOOOA!!! now we know wear the training is from, the woman was the most dis-respectful person ive ever met in the hospitality trade, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS VENUE, tasteless food, bad service, lousy staff, Mcd's may not be the best option but i bet they have better customer service skills

Overpriced food venue overpriced beer Staff have a attitude problem the food we had was just microwave not fresh and why do the girls behind the bar insist on putting makeup on doing there hair behind the bar. We wanted 30 mins for our food and what a disappointment it was would rather eat at Mc Donalds if they sold beer dont go it`s rubbish

The food isn't overpriced and the pub sells real ale. I think Baznpat is/are confused. This is a family friendly pub with lots going on and some decent real ales and good food.

Only downside of this pub is that the Old Peculier is now 3.37 a pint- wildly overpriced compared with any other beer in Scarborough, in fact more than I'd expect to pay in London. Otherwise we found it to be an excellent pub, welcoming and unfussy. The 'playbus' in the beer garden kept our children entertained while we ordered food and waited for its arrival. Food was good and there was lots of choice, including an unusually large range of choices on the children's menu. Staff were very friendly; all in all a pleasant, relaxing place to visit with the family.

I eat here fairly regular, maybe once a month. The food is always good and the staff are very nice, only one not so great point and that is that i wonder about the cleaness of the indoor childrens toys, they always seem a bit grim to me.

The Ivanhoe pub is excellent in almost every way! The service is great, the food taste and proportions are fantastic, the rooms and breakfast service is of a very high standard (in the sense of hygeine and comfort, especially comfort in room 6),and overall hygiene throughout the pub is fantastic. I recommend anyone go there for a night out or a break. I loved it!

Not far from the caravan site, we called in and were tempted to an excellent desert, but the ale was very pricey. Paid 3.24 for 2 halves of Old Peculier - a strong beer I know, but the first time I have paid over 3.

Very good food & generous portions.
Very popular in summer with families due to outdoor play area for kids. They've even got a old double decker bus for kids to play in !!!
