Has reopened as the Rusty Bicycle and is a very fine European style bar but proper pub!

Sadly closed June 2006.
Planning permission earlier granted for (5?)self-contained flats, retaining the frontage and other fabric of this 191y.o. building.
Delay in progress may indicated that further applications for a total re-build are likely.
Very sad. I drank here for 25 years. A great local pub in its hey-day, let down by long periods of neglect.

sadly being pulled down soon to make way for a block of flats

Used to be awesome. Awesome. The ideal boozer - quite small, with a seemingly endless supply of knavish locals who drift in and out, providing useful and amusing banter. And they served Inches Stonehouse. What more can be said?

Not been for a couple of years but used to be the best pub in the world.

Small, reasonably quiet place with friendly, amusing locals. Good guinness, good pool table, sky tv and dartboard. Generally no scum in there, apart from the occasional boisterous student group on their way to somewhere worse.

What a pub should be.

I know the management's changed though so wondering what its like now.
