please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Plough has a fairly small interior with a couple of rooms. But it has a large garden and car park at the rear, with children's play equipment and a bouncy castle. Flying Monk Elmers, Butcombe Bitter & Malt Missenden Pale Ale were the 3 real ales. Nice village pub with friendly staff.

Have used this delightful pub for years the setting is lovely BUT today I had to return my beef dinners which the land lord exchanged for the pork then he bought our money back and that made us feel really uncomfortable as it seemed all eyes were on us. This put me off the second meal.I took the money in the pub and told the landlord I did not want the money back I just wanted a nice meal he was pleasant at first ,he would not take the money so I told him to put it in the staff tips or charity box,he did not want to do either so I put it in his hand and departed.I don't feel customer service was very good, neither was the beef or the complaints procedure. Rant over I will still be going back just hoping it was an off day .

In here early last Saturday evening with half a dozen other chums.
Nice interior with a log fire going on what was a chilly evening.
There are two sides to the bar the one we were in had 3 hand pulls.
Butcombe Bitter, Tring Side Pocket and West Berks Brewery Good Old Boy.
I tried the Side Pocket & the GOB which were excellent and cost £3.20 a pint.
There is also a side room with a large plasma TV showing Final Score on the BBC.
There is also a dart board in here.
Voted the local CAMRA branch Summer Pub of the year 2013 and well worth a visit.

The Plough Inn at Long Wittenham has recently changed hands (November 2012) so the negative comments that have appeared here may not apply now. Definitely worth a visit to witness the modest changes made to the decor so far and the major changes made to the menu under the new proprietors and their chef. More emphasis is being given to supporting local breweries, too.

Called in Saturday lunchtime and had much needed bowl of soup after cycling into the chilly north wind. Staff made us welcome - from the young lad laying the table to the barman and lady - either a different set of people to experienced by Happyhippo, or he/she caught them on a bad day (or maybe they read BITE?)

Ive been meaning to call in here since I moved to the area in 2008. Finally called in over the weekend and was largely impressed with the place. Nice beer garden out the back on a summers day, the food was fairly traditional pub food but honest, unpretentious and nicely prepared after a reasonable wait. The guest beers were both well kept and overall good value for food and drinks. The young lad bringing the food out was perfectly pleasant, the barman a bit grumpy on the other hand until we left when we did get a thank you & wave.

A nice end to a walk on the nearby Thames or Wittenham Clumps

Visited there on Saturday and were more than happy with everything they had to offer. 5 of us ate and were all impressed with our meals - good solid pub grub and very reasonably priced. Only tried the Butcombe ale but it was superb. Also found the bar man and waiting staff to be friendly and helpful. Thoroughly recommend this pub whether it's from a boat or if you're passing.

Grumpy barman and a very unwelcome reception sent alarm bells ringing. Carrying my pint all the way down to the river before tasting it was a mistake as it tasted of pipe cleaner. Overall a great disapointment.

Visited wholely on the basis of the last review. While generally I can see why people recommend it (the barman was friendly, and in the summer I imagine it's quite idyllic to sit outside) I thought it was fairly run-of-the-mill.

Nice enough, but a little scruffy and basic for my taste. I wouldn't say it was a bad pub at all, just not really what I was expecting, or hoping for. Sorry.

A traditional English pub in the best style. Good beer, good food, a very pleasant landlord and staff and reasonable car park. Came across it by chance looking for lunch with my wife and we were both delighted with it.

Haven't been here for years, but it still sticks in my mind as one of the best Thames-side pubs that I've been to. Very welcoming to holiday cruisers. Good food, good atmosphere. I must go back again and see if it's still lovely.
