user reviews of the Chambers, Southampton

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Now owned by Sadler's, a West Midlands Brewery who brew outstanding beers. There were 9 real ales on at our visit. We also ate and the food was very good and lots of it. Called Brewhouse and Barbeque which is slightly misleading in that they don't brew on the premises but the beers really are top notch.

recently been taken over by a new company who have made this little town pub a very exciting place to be! definately somewhere i would take the girlfriend and they have a massive range of drinks from cocktails to real ale! i have been to chambers on numerous occasions and can honestly say that i have always left wanting to return! everyone tends to have bad days from tme to time but i can honestly say that i have never experienced a 'bad' day at chambers!!!

if you havn't already, take a look for yourself, you wont be dissappointed!!!

I love the food in chambers and the drink! They do amazing coctails! and as for the comment about the real ales being off, im sorry but if you knew anything about real ales you would know that after taping them you have to let them stand for over 14 hours before being just right to serve! I really hope this comment does not put people of going as its a brilliant bar with nice atmosphere! And a perfect place to go on a date (exept when the football is on!) lol

Alright if you like lager, a really bad loud House/Disco Music. Food smelt Nice, but could'nt order, due to not being able to hear.

Having had a great pasta dish a few weeks ago with mt daughter I recommended Chambers to friends. decided to go there with our wives before the Ipswick football match at st. Marys and was really quite embarrssed that I had recommended it. Wehad 2 pints of London pride which were off! we then had 2 pints of Tetley bitter the only other real ale available. These were even worse and tasted like vinegar. They were replaced with gassy beer! Had no time to change the barrell.
There was one person serving behind the bar who was very nice but could not cope.
Club sandwich had cold soggy toast. Prawn cocktail came with no crusty bread as on menu. Sliced bread arrived after complaning!
If they want to make money they need to be properly staffed especially when Saints are at home. Need to get staff that understand beer and not sell vinegar and to improve qualtiy of food. Tried to phone to complain but not answer!.
nice bar if you want to sit and not eat or drink

You order food, the barmaid gives you some kind of "buzzer", it buzzes, and you have to go and collect your food yourself. This is the only place in my entire life I have had to do this. At night, the sound is absolutely deafening. I've nothing against loud music, but this place has a massive speaker system rigged up in a place with a very low ceiling. It's actually quite unpleasant to be here.
