Nice country pub with a big garden. But, as has been stated. beer choice uninspired, only Wadworth's 6X and Henry's IPA, the latter served flat.

Was in here last night for the quiz and had a thoroughly pleasant evening. Beer range a bit unimaginative (6X/IPA/Horizon) but in good condition. The place was pretty busy for a Wednesday night. I'd give this another go.

Hi Popped in on Sunday afternoon what a change. New landlord just started but I think this pub might just be on the up.
Here's hoping!!!

Yes very quiet and it shows in the Beer very flat indeed they have a manager who is just marking time I think.
What a sorry state for what used to be the best pub for miles

What did I say?

Sign now up saying "Pub to Let", as it's a Wadworths managed pub they are in effect trying to palm it off. End of the day punters vote with their feet and have done here.

Good building, big car park, nice country location - *If the rent was reasonable* it would be a tremendous venture for someone with the intelligence to re-open it as a proper real ale pub with a good, free of ties range. Do this and it would blow every other country pub in the area for miles straight out of the water.

Dead quiet on my recent visit and the beer range was hardly a joy either, Wadworths 6X or IPA in this day and age of choice will hardly pull the punters in. How or why would a pub of this size only have 2 real ales on tap beggars belief - I know it is a managed Wadworths pub but if they put the full range on and carried 1 or 2 guests this place would have much more appeal and might actually pull punters through the door on a regular basis.

The trouble with pubs like this though is that they have relied on the food trade for far too long and took it for granted whilst they let the wet side of the trade go to pot. Credit crunch arrives, oh look now the restaurant is empty as nobody has the spare cash to splash out. Drinks especially the beer, lager, cider are far too expensive and if they don't employ some common sense in their approach here will be yet another of the 5 pubs per day going to the wall I kid you not the writing is so clearly on the wall.

Yet again had a great meal at this pub. Steak & Stilton pie is to die for. Drank 6x which was a really good drink, nice atmosphere in the pub.

I have visited this pub on many occasions over the last couple of months and I can honestly say that it is a fantastic place to eat. The menu is on chalkboards and is always changing, the staff are welcoming and friendly. Real ale on tap is from a small brewery called Wadworth, the ale is second to none. Lots of different events happening there over next few weeks. Very well organised and spotlessly clean inside, not sure if the outside really does it justice. We found this place one day when we got lost, it is now the only pub that we go to for food. (They even allow children!!) many pubs in the area do not and they have a great beer garden and kiddies play area. I think it has recently been taken over and all I can say is the very best of luck to the owners as it's a pub that has everything for everybody. Well done! A*****

Hi

Just had a fab evening at this pub, had a party night in their marquee, for was superb, ale was outstanding (drank Old Timer), not sure if the previous comment went to the right pub as I was welcomed like I had used the pub as my local (I live 20 miles away) the person that wrote the review obviously doesn't know what the hell he is talking about? Who cares about personal problems, we all have them!!?? Or are you not in a normal relationship?? The Cross Hands (just down the road) is a good drinking pub, should you be in the clan and use the same tattoo artist!!! (they tattoo men as well as women)

Went for a meal at this pub last night (Fri 17th Aug) what a lovely place.

Just as the website says, great home-made food (the steak & stilton pie is to die for!) beer was spot on, drank the wadsworth Horizon. Prices reasonable, nice atmosphere and then able to enjoy a coffee sat on one of the fab leather sofa's. will certainly be making this my local.

Yes, much better now the old misery guts has left! :-)

Only had a quick pint of 6X but the beer was spot on and service and atmosphere a vast improvement. At least there is now "1" decent pub in the area to visit ... at long last!

Returned to this pub for a meal as I was told it was under new management with a great new menu. Was VERY VERY glad we did, as the food and service were A+. The atmosphere was very welcoming and friendly. The service both with drinks and food was excellent. Will be returning very soon for a meal. If in the area its MUST!!!

Hey - went to this place at weekend and hooray it's under NEW MANAGEMENT - Thank God. Beer prices are now realistic, not a fantastic selection at the moment but after speaking to the manager they had only taken over a few weeks ago and they were looking to increase the ales here. Lovely atmosphere. Will definatelyreturn. GOOD LUCK

Nice building - Useless pub or rather restaraunt.

Poor selection of ale (2 when I was there - 6X & IPA - how utterly imaginative!) and extortionate prices. Landlord is not exactly welcoming, in fact he's a misery and can barely be bothered to serve people from my watchings there.

Which is strange, because at their prices I would be sprinting behind the bar ala Linford Christie with a goofy grin on my face knowing my bank manager would be very happy with me.

Avoid!
