First pub outside of London on the 2014 UK crawl. A block or two away from the main shopping strip, fairly quiet but friendly. I had a pint of Mansfield, whatever that is, dark & wet anyway & only 2.50. A pub for locals but I saw some elderly tourists on a subsequent visit being well looked after.

Took a chance on this pub and have to admit, the one real ale on (which was 49er) was good. Barmaid was friendly and the pub was clean and tidy.

No real ale but were made to feel very welcome, the pub dog is a must, the lack of real ale was offset by the real dog! it was like drinking in the 70's when you used to get old slow frendly pub dogs of indiscriminate breeding.

Found this a really decent place, which is pretty hard in Scarborough to be honest, the only disappointment being that the Jennings wasn't on, so had to have Banks's, which at least is a good back-up for a Midlander, when there isnt any MILD in the town!

2009,hope this is more up to date, the cats back then were 2 on the hearth
to my knowledge never known as the dead cat, fluffy childrens toys, don`t count, the landlady Pat Appelqvist runs a proper pub, which she had refurbished last year, plus all the letting rooms. covered smoking area, and good home cooked food Tues. through to Sunday roast.I must like it I`m there 7 days a week.Cheers

THIS PUB IS AN INTERESTIN' PUB IF YOU LIKE STRANGE GOINGS ON ? THEY'VE GOT NOISES, STUFF GETTING MOVED SEEMINGLY BY ITSELF AND A FRIENDLY SPIRIT CALLED CECIL ! THE PUB WAS ORIGINALLY AN OLD MORTUARY WHICH KINDA ADDS TO THE ATMOSPHERE.I'VE STAYED THERE SEVERAL TIMES AND AWAIT THE NEXT STRANGE OCCURENCE. THEY HAVE GUEST ROOMS AVAILABLE AT REASONABLE RATES TOO !!THE STAFF ARE EXCELLENT, DOWN TO EARTH AND ALWAYS TRY TO HELP. WELL WORTH A VISIT !!

well the pub is a small country type pub i guess, but the staff well can be a bit two faced at times. but its a good pub to go to on a monday night after 8 8:30 'cause the landlord and lady play as a band and the landlord plays guitar and sings, landlady plays bass i think, and there son plays drums, i think thts a good night but they rarely have alcohol in there excuse is they only get 1 delivery a week. but i guess it can be an alright pub, well depending whos in.
