This used to be a great pub when the Mullen family had it. It was a rough pub called the White Hart years ago, but they turned it around and there was never any trouble. Fantastic live music venue too. Now they've gone, and the brewery have seen fit to put a couple of teenage surf bums in charge. The manager looks barely old enough to drink! They're calling it "Buskers" or something these days - not that you'd know, as there is no name over it whatsoever! They still have bands on, but the place is full of kids and the roughnecks are back. I won't use it any more, and neither will most of the old regulars and music lovers. Such a shame.

Traditional pub with a nice local feel to it. Has a huge virtually empty room at the back with a large projection screen for TV events, and a small but welcoming courtyard out the back. Harveys best at a good price during televised footy matches.

I moved to Eastbourne in June 2009 and have been made to feel really welcome by Emma and the team at Mullens. They decorated the pub and ordered pizza for my 30th birthday in February, which was really nice. The atmosphere on karaoke nights (Thurs) and band nights (Friday & Saturday) is fantastic and because the performance area is quite small, you feel almost part of the band! They have regular theme nights and the staff and regulars are none too shy to dress up!!
Highly recommended!

Looks extremely uninviting from the outside with the darkened windows and the smokers on the pavement. Fortunately I was pleasantly surprised when I entered as the staff were friendly and the pub was busy, but not packed and the clientele was a very mixed bag. There were a few people watching the TV which receives Sky and Setanta and another 4 playing pool. There was also a strange posh bloke wearing jodhpurs and riding boots, but the majority of people were in the back of the pub listening to a band singing Irish folk one minute and Cockney the next. The gents are next to where the band was playing so you have to walk across the tiny dance floor each time you need a piss.

3.50 a pint is very steep, but the pub is open late when a band is on.

There are better pubs nearby, but I think that this place is unique to the area so worth a visit.

Many a Friday and Saturday night have been spent in here watching a band. Slightly expensive beer, but on a night where there's a band you don't mind as much. Does get a little smoky and you sometimes need to grease yourself to enable getting up to the bar in the crush, but it's open till 12 on band nights and that was before they introduced 24 hour liver carnage.
Well worth a walk away from the town centre.
