Would be sad to see this pub go. Visited the other day for the first time and was very impressed with the quality of the pint of St Austell "Trelawny Ale", the service was friendly and there were quite a few people in there too, 7/10

Is it open or closed? Didn't get in to find out! Hard to tell during the day. Some days the door is open and lights on and others, the door remains closed well into the evening.

The 'For Sale Freehold' has been taken down, but one agent still has it on the market for 325K +VAT (390K). Too many busier pubs nearby perhaps?

Shame about the broken window with 'Cardboard Glass' :-(

Reasonable Tribute here though a little warm-2.80 a pt was ok. Doombar also on. Young nondescript barman offered a top up without prompting. Modern music(sickly dance version of Elton John's classic Tiny Dancer) playing for the few students in. A hot and heavy discussion on the essential difference between "being in a fight" and "being beaten up" was going on. Strangely the barman felt the need to waste away a bottle of cider that fizzed up and overspilled about an ounce-instead of knocking say 50p off the price. The buyer (a student) paid for and got a full one but then talked the barman into giving him the slightly spilled one for free. Feck-its Christmas. All in all I wouldn't rush back.

I watched Wales v France in here last Friday evening, and it was anything but quiet. Packed with Welsh fans, with lots of Brains SA being sold. Maybe not a representative sample, but I thought it seemed pretty good, and along with the Robin Hood and Highbury Vaults, would make for a nice little crawl up/down the hill

Very quiet on a Monday night, although contrary to what other people have said I've always found it very busy in the past.
Good choice of ciders, with Blackthorn, Thatcher's Gold, Strongbow, Bulmers and Cheddar Vally all on draft. What more could you want?

No ales on for my visit. Landlord seemed slightly irritated that I should even ask. I have had some good nights here, but the general grumpiness of my last encounter - from staff & punters alike - was disappointing. Left with my lager unfinished. Better luck next time?

Left my baseball cap at home so couldn't follow the trend and wear it backwards. Innit.

Almost always really quiet and I can't see why? Very friendly staff and landlord, reasonable beer, good pool table and a balcony for the summer. It doesn't have Sky Sports at the moment (presumably because it is quiet), but anything on terrestrial is shown on the widescreen and they have a few others dotted about the pub. The only downside is that it is at the bottom of a massive hill, otherwise brilliant and constantly underrated.

Thought this was a great pub with a little balcony area and a pool table. Reasonably quiet.
