Under new ownership and with a new name - The Corner House. Its popularity is picking up after its previous neglect. Bar area has sofa, high bars stools around upturned barrels, with restaurant area arranged to encourage dining. For those wanting to stay in the rooms it might be worth ignoring previous bad comments, seems much more organised.
Beers are still supplied by Blindmans, although there is now a guest beer, Budvar and Guinness.

Room very clean and bright. Beer lovely (but only a choice of three). Staff excellent (and under new management) and food very tasty. The only tiny gripe was that there was only instant coffee for breakfast. Apart from that, highly recommended.

Rather quiet yesterday afternoon. 3 Blindmans beers plus 2 guests on offer. The Lamb Gold was 2.50 and the Buff 2.70 - strange as the latter is weaker than the former!

Only Ploughmans on offer at lunchtime.

What an excellent bar! Good range of tasty well kept draught beers, a couple of proper ciders and a decent range of spirits. Pleasant service, good value food (Pieminster Pies amongst others) and comfortable surroundings.
Lacks a bit of atmosphere, possibly not helped by often being fairly quiet (seems the good folk of Frome dont sup much on a sunday night) but makes up for this by the fact that its utterly free of the types who feel its impossible to have a conversation without shouting obscenities at each other.

They've let the side down a bit in recent months because they now stock draught lager! Though other people probably see this as a positive advance (my wife being one of them)...

Excellent food & beer. The Lamb Ale being especially wonderful. Very friendly barmaid. The locals think it's expensive but, coming from Southampton, it seems very reasonable (2.50 a pint).
Last came in here 10 yrs ago when it was a tip with the landlord's repulsive children insulting the customers. How times have changed. Well done Blindmans. A must visit when in Frome.

Wandered in here on a VERY rainy Saturday, just before lunch. There were a few people in, and the barmaid was very friendly - even going off to get a tea towel to dry my glasses! The beer was excellent, as you'd hope from Blindman's. The interior (new-style wood pub, chunky tables, leather seats) is not particularly to my taste, but it's comfortable and, above all, DRY :-)

More of a crying pub I would say. Too many small children in the bar totally destroys any atmosphere. Certainly has potential, the menu looks inviting and the beer is well kept. Didn't like the idea of samples from the beer engines being displayed in sherry glasses alongside each pump.

A cracking pub if you like your ales, (6 or 7 on offer) but lager drinkers will find it of little interest as they don't sell any.

Agreed that the exterior is a bit grand, but walked in to receive an immediate welcome worthy of a friendly country pub. Found 6 Blindmans brews and Riches cider on handpull, the Mine beer was very good. The Sunday roast for 8.95 was well presented and served. Did note though that I was the only drink oriented punter who ate when everyone else was here primarily to eat. Maybe the facade puts drinkers off but let me assure you the welcome as a drinker was no different to that as a diner, which makes a refreshing change to the norm where if you're not eating you're made feel you should clear off. Well worth a visit and top of the pops in Frome.

Visited this place yesterday a sampled a few of the Blindman's ales - excellent especially the Lamb Bitter. Looks a bit posh from the outside but well worth a visit.

This pub gets 5 stars! I stayed here with 4 friends on a trip from London to visit family and we had a wonderful time. The bedrooms are modern, clean and luxurious for such a reasonable price. The pub itself is run by friendly staff who guide you through the locally brewed ciders and ales - not to be missed! The food is second to none and the atmosphere is great. The new owners have done a great job in transforming The Lamb. Can't reccomend it enough

This has turned into a great pub. There's plenty of beers on offer and all kept well with friendly bar staff that know their stuff. The pub was busy on the Saturday we went and hopefully it will be successful (wish it was my local). The food looks good but haven't tried it yet.

An impressive and high-quality refurbishment which is so radical that the old Lamb becomes a distant memory (and a good thing too). The bar is impressive as one enters, with about 8 handpumps on display (no tasteless lager fonts) and a well stocked selection of wines and spirits behind. I have been in there on busy evenings and found service quick and friendly, with plenty of staff on duty. I really like the Blindman's beers (tried the whole line up one evening) and the quality was exceptional. Not quite sure how the market for this pub will settle down - it has had a sort of middle-class-ish wine bar-ish feel to it on my visits, and I have been surprised at the number of non-beer drinkers observed. A lot of people seem to be going for the food, which has been a bit of a weakness in other town centre pubs. In any case, let's hope that the fine ale stays at the centre of what this pub does well, and that it retains it's well-deserved popularity.

Get your act together, beerintheevening - this pub is very definitely open again, with a superb range of well kept Blindman's Beers plus the guest ales mentioned below. Two of the beers are brewed especially for the Lamb, of which Lamb Ale is my favourite. The food's good too - and if you're visiting Frome you can even stay there - it really is an inn!

This pub has just reopened under new ownership (local brewer Blindmans Brewery) with a welcome array of 6 of their own ales, 2 guest ales from local independents and a cider. No lager on draught!
There is nothing rustic or old world about this pub, which has been completely refurbished in a more modern style (though I might have preferred a bit more olde worlde charm, like an open fire).
It's only just reopened (Jan 08) but once it establishes itself it ought to be one of Frome's real treasures.

Just to update, this pub appears to have been acquired by Blindmans Brewery, to reopen in September.

This pub has closed - shame, I was looking forward to some of the orange ferment!
fromedrinker - 16 Nov 2006 09:19
Terrifying. What is that opaque orange stuff the regukars drink?!
