Beer first. From the Punch list. Surprised by 4 handpumps (the pub's in the middle of nowhere) but apparently well supported by locals. Pride, Doombar, Ringwood Bitter and Landord were on when I was in. 2 samples I had were very good. Looked like a nice pub. Didn't try the food. 8.

Just come back Initial reception from Jack good. Ordered 4 starters 2 mackrell not good. Mains 2x ribs great - Pork iffy - Ham and eggs crapp for the money. Sent HAM & E--- back; no real options offered. Land Lady ran away, left it to Jack - so ended up paying 120+ for 3 meals (oh you girld no fuss). DONT DO IT. THIS PLACE IS NOT WORTH IT - TOO MANY RICH BODS FROM ELVETHAM. Leave it to them and their big bucks. Pity the rich man - NOT. 1out of 10

Popped in Saturday lunchtime walking the dog, Brakspears Bitter,, London Pride and Sharps Doom Bar on offer. Brakspear and Doom Bar ok, if unremarkable. Pleasant spot for a pint though!

Best pub arround Fleet for the Sunday Roast. Going there quite often, never disappointed by anything.

We popped in New Year's Eve, had a wonderful time (late lunch) awaiting our huge New Year's party dinner at the Four Seasons. It was a relaxing day and The Barley Mow gave us a break to look forward to before our return walk along the Tow Path back to the hotel. We've been there 4 or 5 times now; ranging from a quick drink to a full sit down meal; we've enjoyed every stop! Thanks very much indeed! Great value and very nice menu!

Visited here many times before.
Went here today for pint of Hogs Back T.E.A and was very disappointed with it as it tasted like gnat`s p...s. Not up to their usual standard.

The Barley Mow is a great people pub.

Steve and Caroline make everyone very welcome and take a pride in every aspect of their pub.

Not only a focal point for Winchfield, the Barley Mow also attracts people from the surrounding towns and villages as well.

You need to book for food on Saturdays and Sundays - it gets busy.

The cricket days on the green are one of the highlights of the pubs calendar.

After a nice Sunday drive around the countryside, me and my boyfriend decided to stop here for lunch - we had stopped at a few other pubs in the area but did not like the menus.

The menu is gourmet pub grub, from wraps and jacket potatoes to steaks and sunday roasts. There are also specials boards and a board on the bar that lets you know things such as soup of the day, fish of the day etc.

I had fish and chips which was battered haddock served with nice thick cut chips and a very nice salad. My boyfriend had Thai red chicken curry with rice, poppadoms and naan bread. The food was very tasty, well presented and nice and hot and fresh looking. Each dish was about 10 each.

The staff at the pub are very friendly and give you a warm welcome.

We thoroughly enjoyed our food. We sat outside as it was a nice day and there were lots of people who were out walking or riding their bikes that had stopped. Also people with dogs and babies seemed to have a warm welcome.

Would recommend.

Visited here twice now. The first time indoors and the meal was ok if a bit substandard. The atmosphere is a bit...to quote the other poster 'flatpacked' and will date really quickly although I thought it was a good try and is far from horrible. I was willing to give it another go. However on my second visit I sat outside (lunch time) to overhear the (I presume) land lady's tales of clubbing and general hob-nobbing at some volume. Even that wouldn't of bothered me too much but the swearing was just wrong for the middle of the day. I kept glancing over to the family sitting in the grass area wondering what they were making of it all. No excuse for that, so it's getting a poor rating.

Arranged a birthday there - staff were very accomodating and the food laid on was very good. Couldn't have been more helpful. Loads of people commented on how nice the venue was.
Also visited to to dine there, food good although there weren't as many "specials" on as other nights.
Definitely worth trying out.

Flat pack joint straight out of the gastropub catalogue. Memorable it wasn't - apart from surly 'service' from Comic Shop Dude lookalike and staff. Discerning patrons will easily find better fare at other local pubs.

had a pint and lunch here today. good pint of Fosters. good selection of local beers available, such as Black Sheep. Also London Pride.
Very friendly. Lots of muddy walkers came in, with a couple of dogs, and all were welcomed. Service was efficient. Food was very well cooked. Not the cheapest, 10.95 for steak & kidney pie, with mash and green veg. But good value in this sort of pub. The landlord has changed the menu lately, and is using local sources for as many of the ingredients as possible. Worth a visit if in the area.

Builders are in and seem to be gutting the place. So lets hope it re-opens soon.

Unfortunately this pub is currently closed and boarded up, which is a pity because it was very good. Hopefully someone will take it over soon becasue it's next to a popular Basingstoke Canal Car Park and access point (and one of my favourite walks!)
