In here just before noon last Saturday and not a lot to add as previous posters sum this place up nicely. About a dozen other punters present.
Very friendly service from what I think was the landlady.
There are 4 hand pulls split 2/2 at both ends of the bar all for Sam Smiths Old Brewery Bitter @ £1.88 a pint.

I love The Wortley - wonderful building - one of the last left after Jones Lang LaSalle gutted the city to build Queensgate. The beer is cheap, tasty and cheerfully served. I recommend this place to all visitors and locals. It's an oasis of calm on a Saturday night and I generally find an excuse to drop in if I'm out shopping. Great stuff.

Great staff, great S. Smiths. Very convenient position for the traveller. A peculiar/mashed gent seemed to be quite insistant on making our acquaintance, but otherwise We would have enjoyed it thoroughly. I would really like to compliment the friendly and knowledgeable staff, they really did make the evening. Cheers!

You enter with the bar in front of you kind of straddling two rooms/sections and with further sections to the left and one to the right. Only Sam Smiths bitter on and it was okay though nothing special but it was only 1.56 for a pint. Settled in the furthest room along and looking out across the flagstoned floor through the lead lighted window it felt like I was having a pint in a National Trust property. Handy for the railway and bus stations (and also a contrast to the Brewery tap a little further down Westgate)

Looks terrific from the outside and, as L_g_a says, you have to stand at one end to appreciate the impressive interior view straight through to the fireplace at the other. OBB on handpump (1.54!), SS Cider Reserve, Alpine keg, plus Pure Brew lager which was the surprising choice of one of our company, sadly taking the round of six beyond the tenner. Open rooms & seating areas in sections off the corridor, various wood/fabric settles & cushioned stools, some lovely faded yellow brick flooring.

Quite a decent, cosy pub with a couple of fairly small rooms. Friendly barman and Samuel Smith's own cider on tap which is quite a decent pint.

Late review from October when we came in to visit GBG pubs, and this was a new one for us. Very interesting pub and we were able to have a look round as it was not busy. Enjoyed our Sam Smiths OBB at its usual reasonable price.

It's cheap, and if you like Sam Smith's this is the perfect place for you.

The Wortley's ok, and now Bogart's is shut, it's either this or the Brewery Tap at this end of town.

It could be worse.

Friendly interesting Samuel Smiths pub not to far from the Brewery Tap. Not a great selection of beers and only one on hand pump. All the other available beers were on electric pumps. All but one of our pre football touring party had the bitter from the hand pump. One of our group had the Pure Brewed Lager which was served in a weissbier style long glass. The beer was at a fantastic 1.49 a pint but usual Sam Smiths lack of flavour. The pub was originally a workhouse and has been tastefully refurbished in recent years. You can see both the fire place in the bar you are in as well as the one to the complete other end of building. Both fire places seem to have wood burning stoves in them.

Interesting pub with seperate drinking areas. Not a great range of beer, just the Sam Smith's bitter on offer but that was good and only 1.49 a pint (in November 2008). Also does what looked like good value home-cooked food.

Solid boozer, Sam Smiths quality and prices. Ideal place to finish your crawl before catching the train, bus or cab home.

Had a very enjoyable few drinks here on a Saturday afternoon. Had the Stout, Bitter and Alpine and all were tasty and well kept. The prices are superb, the building is interesting and comfortable. Will be back!

Sam Smith's place, really good atmosphere and very cheap prices. Lager drinkers beware however you will be made to drink out of some sort of champagne flute.

Toilets are also a little suspect, there was a hole in the floor there the other week, and have been known to have the ladies out of order.

10 out of 10 for Sam Smiths. CAMRA use the Wortley Almshouses on their advertising. With its sister Pub on Oundle Road (Botolph Arms) they serve the cheapest beer in Peterborough. Saturday nights are fun, mostly frequented by the cast of the rocky horror show. Check it out :-))

A bit of a funny layout here, though apparantely it's one of the oldest pubs in Peterborough.

Only 1.35 for a pint of Samuel Smith's though, so this pub gets the thumbs up from me.
