user reviews of the Lord Nelson, Holloway Road

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I am not a prude but this is the worst pub in the world. It is like they are trying to make it awful. It stinks, it's expensive, the beer is awful and the locals stare at you and attempt to look menacing (which I actually quite like but I can understand if others don't).

opening soon as 'The Horatia N7', whatever that means? Club nights and 'mouthwatering food'!

Seems to have closed, hasn't been open for a few days.

I visited this pub about a month ago so I am going to take it for granted that only the name has changed since then and the newly refurbished pub that I discovered hasnt been done up again.

There was only a standard selection of draught available on my visit, but taking into account that there are two pool tables and a nine ball pool table I dont think that the management is aiming at a real ale crowd. I was pleased to see a very nice dartboard set up towards the rear of the pub and the jukebox level wasnt too imposing. I also thought that the barmaid was very friendly and it looks like an effort has been made to make this a decent pub.

My visit was on a weekday night so it wasnt very busy, but I liked it and would go again if in the area.

Now called 'The Asburton', has had a lick of paint and seems to be catering for the karaoke crowd. I think it's run by the same people who run the 'Wig and Gown' further down the road?

The Lord Nelson is under new management from 19/06/09. There will be lots of NEW entertainment coming up in the future. All over 21's welcome. I.D. necessary.

Look out for NEW events very soon.

No real ales here, so moved on. Was totally empty around 6pm on a Friday, but staff friendly enough

The Irish fellas were outside on the pavement. Inside it was a goth/80s night (third Friday of the month) - Club Distraction. Any night that can mix Tanz Mit Laibach and Love Will Tear Us Apart is ok by me. Even if the choice of good drinks was limited - we had Kronenbourg.

definitely not an attractive pub but friendly bar staff. older irish crowd but can be packed to the rafters with young irish people from across north london when the wolfe tones or someone similar comes to play...

VERY irish bar on the unpleasent Holloway Road, caters a lot for the older irish community (slow dancing was one feature when I was there).

This is the worst pub I've ever been to in my life. It is full of old depressed looking alcoholics. The bands are hopeless and I'm amazed they get people to pay to go in there. The bouncers are very unfriendly. Avoid!

Excellent pub for those who enjoy the best of Irish music. The staff are friendly, as are the security staff who ensure that any disputes are nipped in the bud.

Well worth a visit!
