Two years since my last visit and it's still as good now as it was then.

One of the nicest pubs I've ever had the pleasure of visiting.
A total stranger to the area, never mind the pub, I arrived at opening time and had the landlord assist me in trying to identify the origins of a beer I'd sampled at another establishment earlier in the day. We might have failed in that task, but so what? How many other pubs would bother?
When the regulars started arriving I retired to the smaller side bar, not wanting to intrude, but was still able to overhear the conversation taking place and still felt very much welcome and at home.
It is an extremely good example of what all pubs ought to be but so rarely are nowadays - good beer, company and conversation in very pleasant surroundings.

Visited a couple of years ago whilst on a day-long crawl around the Forest and Valley. By some way the best pub visited, although worryingly we were the only customers (early Friday afternoon in September). Friendly landlord, great range of beers well kept and good value. Will be going out of my way to return. A genuine unpretensious pub.

A cracking place - a traditional pub with a relaxed atmosphere and good beer. Probably the best pub in the Forest - a rare survival.

I found this pub from the Good Beer Guide. Friendly locals and a friendly landlord and some great beer. Sitting in the snug reading the Sunday paper with sunlight streaming through the window was like being a picture from a guide book of the perfect English Country pub. A great find.

This is my local pub.

Sue and Fred who run the place are brilliant, and the locals are a really nice bunch.

Worth a visit, amazing range of bitter's that change per week.

A proper old mans pub, ring the bell for service.

Hence a bit quiet and intimidating in a way, but well worth a visit.
