please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Bear was fairly busy on my Thursday evening visit. The barman (possibly landlord) was nowhere to be seen when we arrived. It was a good 5 minutes before he turned up and then he started serving a local who had just got to the bar without even considering to ask who was next. The ignorant local wasn't about to tell him either. With Fuller's London Pride and Young's Ordinary as the two real ales and the haphazard service, I wouldn't recommend this place unless you're already a regular.

had sunday lunch on 25/05/08. was ok but not as good as Rising Sun Hampton Hill. agaian Garden facilities for children fantsatic and never felt uncomfotable about having children with us. Only thing I would say is that we have been in quite regulary now over the past few years and none of the bar staff or landlord have bothered to make an effort to get to nkow us.

great garden for families with designated play area for kids, only one i know of in local area but inside needs attention.
If your looking for a couple of drinks when in town at the weekend and you have the kids with you this is pub you should go to.

Don't think it's really a 'hotel'. Bit rough inside, food apparently served but breakfasts given bigger prominence than dinners on the menu! Side garden mainly for families with kids. Bench seats out front too, but they are between the parked cars so it's not exactly luxurious. Very acceptable pints of Youngs Ordinary and Special; but otherwise best included as part of a 'crawl' rather than staying all evening: there are several other good pubs very close by.

During a visit to Walton on a recent away day outing, I had the total misfortune to stumble across this so called pub. From the outside everything looks nice and normal. As soon as I stepped inside however, I was hit by a terrible, dirty musty smell. Not a good start. I ordered a drink from a limited selection, however, the barmaid managed to give me something else completly different. Nevermind. Off to sit down, through the freaky looking locals, to a table which had a nice slection of bottled mustard, salad cream and tommy k on it. Considering the sun was beating on down through the window, I didn't consider this poor food hygiene at all......! I placed my backside on a seat that had been ripped apart, possibly by a dog, possibly by a freaky local, not sure, and drank out of a dirty glass.....nice.

The one positve thing I can say, is that this pub will live in the memory and is now a legendary place between mates - everytime I think of Walton, I am going to think of The Bear, possibly the worst pub I have ever been into - well done!

Fabulous pub. Always made to feel welcome when I visit from out of town. Food and hospitality excellent. Have you tried the Monday night steaknights / Sunday Lunch? Excellent value. Would recommend to anyone who wants a decent pint and pleasant surroundings. Look forward to my next visit

Revisited at lunch time, same beer as before but they have done the garden out into a patio with a small kids paly area at the end. But sadly last night some one nicked half of the kids play stuff.

Nice local pub just off the high street. Only one real ale London Pride which was nice. They do good food and cheaper smaller portions for pensioners at lunch time.

A very local Pub. Better than most in the area. But if you are out in Walton you might prefer the Anglers, the Swann or the Slug and Lettuce. Not the worst pub in Walton though.
