user reviews of Minx, Loughton

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Have to say I agree with every comment although I see the last review for this place was June 2009. Well, it hasn't improved, despite a couple of closures and name-changes, the latest of which is "Luxe" which should tell us enough. Having read the Reviews Policy; let's say the place allegedly has a poor local reputation.!
Not sure if it's open right now but it looks a place for normal folk to avoid. If you're in Loughton and want a drink in a decent pub, go to the Victoria Tavern.

If the name alone wasn't enough to put you off, then perhaps you belong here. Avoid - really.

Bring back the standard, thats what i say. Minxin it upon a thurs night ....tis the place to be but not to be seen...Its also the place where i embarrass myself alot as it is welcoming to all drunk ppl...ME!

Mmm. Have to 'Q' to get in and then no beers on tap? An Essex mockery of itself. If only a Ferrari got oneself in now!

what's happened to loughton recently? bars full of big brother wannabes and blokes with rubbish mohican style haircuts, sheep, all of them. if that's not reason enough to avoid, they also play the WORST music around; crappy 2 step r'n'b dross. aaarrrgghh...

Come friendly bombs and fall on loughton! It isn't fit for humans now..

Full of celebrity obsessed vacuous people. Most of them are orange coloured.

WHY O WHY Close down the standard ok the standard did have its bad point like it had never been cleaned since the 70s but it was great for football nights the beer was average price the punter were quality people. But now its minx it nearly 5.00 a bottle and is now full of Loughtons footballers wifes and little pricks but it is clean low
So I defiantly agree with raybentos (any one got a light)

The place is absolutly heaving on the weekends. Great to have a place on the high street that goes late and you can have a good boogie. The guys are well fit.

Me and my friends always have a wicked night there on the weekends. I'm sure I've seen people drinking beer in evening.

Hhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha not if my life depended on it, full of cnuts, both male and female, avoid avoid avoid, unless in possesion of copious amounts of petrol

This bar downstairs is awful. They turn the taps off at the weekend so you have to buy bottles of beer at 3.50. The doormen are rude and the place is full of posturing Essex Boy stockbrokers looking to pull ridiculous trophy blondes.

To top it all there's a step up out of the gents, so if you do manage to get a bit tipsy in there you're liable to trip like I did. It's a shame because it's actually really nice upstairs. But it says a lot about Loughton that they've changed the menu from Greek food to all-day-breakfast fare to get the punters in. Avoid Minx if you want a stress free, reasonably priced evening.

I went to Minx for NYE for the first time. There is no place like. Downstairs is a trendy west end style cocktail bar and upstairs a completly opposite concept, a cosy lebanese style restaurant called Sheesha. You can spoke a Sheesha pipe there. They also get belly dancers there.

They have a red carpet coming out of the old Royal Standard... nuff said!
