Drove past the other day and the pub is open again. Rare event these days.

Shame if it has closed for good as was an ok visiting spot away from the centre.

Not surprised it's gone - when I went in a few weeks before it shut they had no ale on the pumps, despite advertising it outside. It was hardly a place to get a drink.

The Thai restaurant refurb a while back was probably not thought-through properly for that area of Tilehurst, especially given that the 17 to Reading town centre stops directly outside.

Another one bites the dust. From the GetReading website - A Popular Tilehurst pub is to close after administrators were unable to find a buyer.

The Bear in Park Lane is one of 14 pubs being shut by PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC) after operator Orchid was plunged into administration.

Upon walking in you can almost here the sound of cashed giros and the gentle tip of a burberry cap. Reminds one of the film 'Deliverance' and remember folks - we don't like dem dere strangers......

Seemed to be the place local people went to. Had all sorts of funny people in before, quite a sporty pub as well. Decent food and beer

Very big pub that is friendly, and has had a complete refurbishment inside. Very reasonably priced. Good staff and good atmosphere. sorted.
