Another unspoiled Cambridgeshire village pub. Although, with its TV series and its proximity to Cambridge, this pub attracts a different clientele to my previous stop (the Hoops at Barton). In fact, it did feel a little pretentious. Drinks were certainly more expensive here. Adnams Bitter is the regular ale. Guests were Adnams Ghost Ship & Woodforde's Wherry. The interior has 2 or 3 small cosy rooms. But tables are hard to come by and I noticed some hardy souls having lunch delivered to a table outside.

Worth a visit to see the garden which contains a mini market garden and also one of the finest pavilions with chairs and tables with heating in the winter ideal when taking your dog.

This is a lovely, unspoilt pub with owners who clearly know what they are doing and take pride in the well-kept ales they serve. The bar is like someone's living room, with a roaring fire and real sense of hospitality as well a useful selection of guidebooks to browse.

I first came here in 1999, and even though it was late in the afternoon, the landlord's wife made me a delicious egg and chips meal for just 2.50. It has become a favourite stop when I'm working in Cambridge. It is one of the nicest pubs to be in, with great beer, darts and friendly people all around.

Best unspoilt pub in Cambridge with Adnams @240p a pint and a guest ale(Norfolk Wherry or Landlord) @260p a pint.Always well kept by John and Karolin who are very welcoming.

This is a small but very friendly pub just outside the center of Grantchester. If you are visiting at night you cant miss the blue lighting on the front of the building.
No lager, 2 Ales on. Black pig and Adnams Bitter and a cider.
It was fairly quiet when we visited and I had the Adnams which had that typical sulphur smell. I have to say that compared with other pubs around it seemed very cheap with a pint of Adnams and a small Rose coming out at less than a fiver.
The pub has lots of black and white photo's and a large selection of travel guides, walking guides and pub guides to look through while you sup.

Great news John the landlord is out of hospital and back behind the bar and the Adnams Bitter is as good as usual and a roaring fire to welcome you.

The opening hours have been reduced due to the illhealth of John the landlord of the past 10 years I hope he gets well soon this is a great little pub with good beer and interesting locals.

Grantchester is a tourist village a couple of mile from Cambridge. The Blue Ball is the pub that a lot of the locals use. Beer is good and friendly atmosphere.

With lovely views across the Meadows this is a mid terraced pub in Grantchester where the locals meet for a pint of real ale (Adnams bitter and a guest ale)..dont ask for lager because they dont sell it but they do sell a local cider which is strong. Not a food pub but they have live music every other Thursday and old fashioned pub games.

Been here a few times and found it quiet but very pleasant. Early evening sun out front and it's very relaxing! It looks like it is a local centre and good on them for keeping it as such, it is so much better than the rubbish in the middle of the village. Bitter is kept very well but not a food pub, and better for it!
