Looked closed (for refurbishment, I think) when I went past it earlier today.

Refreshing to eat food that isn't pre-packed and boiled in a bag like all of the other local chains. Great location and new set menus are real value for money, Cocktail menu has improved no end in the past few months mojito's are better than anything within wimbledon, can't wait to see the improvements after it refurbs in Jan 06

if you want a quite drink in early evening on the terrace in the summer it's ok. avoid all other times
anonymous - 21 Oct 2005 17:34
Awful, avoid, only go for the happy hour if you like watered down cocktails in a smoke filled dome. Best thing about is that tourists go there meaning they won't be where you are drinking.

Man injured in nightclub shooting
An armed man has been arrested after a shooting at a nightclub.
Police were called to the Footlights club in Wimbledon Broadway, south-west London, in the early hours after reports of a man being shot.

Two men were seen running from the scene and officers were threatened with a gun after chasing one suspect towards Wimbledon railway station.

Two men, aged 28 and 19, were arrested. The 21-year-old victim is in a serious condition at a south London hospital.

bouncers are bastards, you have to pay to get in after certain time and then its expensive drinks, shithole, not reccomended
anonymous - 20 Feb 2005 13:45
A really crap atmosphere. The waiters and barstaff are either sleazy or depressive. The idea they have of the roof terrace on the outside of a mall looking out on to, not so pretty Wimbledon high street is just foolish. The food is absolute rubbish for the amount you pay for it. Totally uninspiring. You can see what they are trying to do, but if I had money I'd invest it elsewhere. It also seems really grubby!

Paid a fortune at the bar last Friday (on about 3 drinks), watched a fight & got asked if I wanted one. Used to be a nice place with cheesy music but crap service at the bar. Now it's a crap place with cheesy music and awful service at the bar...

A motorway service station without a motorway - very original.
John - 24 Aug 2004 15:31
Could be so good, but it is absolutely dreadful! Bar is the size of a postage stamp and you could fly to Oz before you got served by the worst bar staff in town. What a waste!!!!!!!
anonymous - 27 Jul 2004 16:31
used to be a good place to come after work on weekends when scotty and jesse were on the door and we got in for free. apart from that it's pretty expensive and takes a while to be served. not a bad setup but there are better places in wimbledon
Joel - 24 Jun 2004 05:05
Been going there for years, got to say by far the variation of music ive ever heard,60s-right up to present day,Dj does requests and its never the same twice.Refreshing bar venue.

Claire H - 23 May 2004 03:11

sian - 5 May 2004 14:22
good laugh for a friday and saturday night the best way to not pay to get in is get there b4 11 or just look pretty flutter your eyelashes and they let you in for free. food is lovely although i think that they should bring back the potatoe skins very upset when they changed the menu you have to bring quite a bit of money drinks rather expensive!!
anonymous - 30 Mar 2004 13:46
Nice friendly atmosphere.A little annoying how they con you into paying for entry and then when you finnally get to the bar, you realise you have to be over 21 to get served!!!argh the cheek these days!
anonymous - 23 Mar 2004 17:45
Thought it was great, besides the fact that we got thrown out sooo early even though the music was so cheesy but will be back as it is close to home very close. enjoy it.
VICKY - 6 Mar 2004 03:39
Its the best place ever!!!no seriously its great!
Sar - 13 Jan 2004 16:14
This usedta be the best mexican restaurant in the london area. NOW its just another italian american place with too much crome and glass. They don't do anything with the unique design of the room, and the dome overhead makes all the music jarring. Its not the place to go to have a conversation.
The pasta course was good, the drinks small and weak. Not everything looks better in white.
Richard - 12 Dec 2003 09:40
A wicked place love it always there on friday nite having a laugh and dance. music is cheesy but its always gr8 fun... need sum nicer men tho!
Nicola - 10 Dec 2003 18:40

alexander pearson - 1 Dec 2003 18:21

Dave Diamond - 9 Nov 2003 17:15
A trully awful place. Cheap during the day cocktails have no alcohol in them, food is terrible. Was asked for ID when 26 years old while young pikeys get served no prob. Give it a miss.
Terrible - 6 Nov 2003 14:21
The Footlights of old wasn't great but the refurb has left it with a soulless, clinical feeling to it, which is even less great. Expensive too
Tim - 3 Nov 2003 17:16
Used to do average Mexican food but now its 'under new management' the food is pretty appalling, the place packed with morons and the prices high. Avoid.
Mark - 23 Oct 2003 14:29
Crap food, crap service.... advice: go elsewhere!
Milly - 16 Oct 2003 22:15
Was very disappointed in the place yesterday, having gone there from a long hard shop in Oxford Street to get bride's mother's outfit (OK beside the point) but got in there, didn't know you had to order at bar - 10 mins later asked waitress - very surly - and had go to bar to order - very footsore anyway. Ordered house wine - 11 a bottle, we thought this was terrible, as it was only a very cheap bottle. My pizza came up - a funghi - mushrooms looked as if they had come out of a tin, really bland, left burnt bits of edges on plate. No service really whatsoever and also, we were asked to put a tip on the bill before having even been served! Well no way were we doing that! Terrible. o out of 10. We should have gone to J D Wetherspoons down the road where we were at least guaranteed value for money!
Ann May - [email protected] - 17 Sep 2003 23:49
the bar was practically empty and i asked to sit out in the balcony and was asked if ill be drinking or eating, so i said both. The manageress said that was impossible that you can eat only on one side of the balcony and drink on the other, so we had to drink first then move to the other end. I questioned this to her and she threw us out saying it was her bar. she looked a little over 15 so that was hard to believe - does anyone know if this is true?
gareth - 8 Sep 2003 15:22
I agree that the decor is now too clinical and frankly the place has little atmosphere and the drinks are way to expensive. The stations right next to it so it would be money better spent to hop on a train that only takes 15 mins to Waterloo walk over the bridge with its lovely view and straight in to soho where you dont mind being ripped off!
Rara - 8 Aug 2003 12:00
Ok until 11.00pm then full of the usual post pub Neanderthals looking for a scrap. Music diabolical.
Brown Waterfall - 12 Jul 2003 11:39
Nice - if you like dancing to "Raining Men" and other "floor fillers" with people who've gone "up ta Wimbudun" for a night aht.
Pete - 1 Jul 2003 01:25
Note to the management: Its wimbledon town centre - not soho. Rip off, new decor very clinical, clientele generally too pissed to give a damn about what they are spending (or buying!) - makes town look living after 11.30pm though.
Gaz - 18 Jun 2003 20:51
Went there a few months ago. Arrived early evening and was told by the bouncers it was too crowded so we should come back in an hour. People on the way out told us it was only half full. We came back an hour later and were made to pay 10 to enter. And it was still half full. WHAT A RIP OFF! What kind of bar makes you wait for an hour just to charge you entrance? Which by the way is extortionate! 10!!! For a BAR in WIMBLEDON!! What a joke!
James - 17 Jun 2003 09:56
Food used to be the best Mexican you could get this side of Cancun, but this was before it's refurb. Not been back since as it reminds us of a hospital foyer/car park foyer as you walk in downstairs.
John & Flippa - 11 May 2003 10:41
The best steak in Wimbledon... mmm
Briony - 6 May 2003 15:09
The food leaves a lot to be desired. Have a meal before entering the establishment. However the drinks particularly the cocktails are very good and it does get busy as a club later in the evenings and is very popular.
Nick - 24 Apr 2003 14:20
Okay for cocktails and bottled beers and turns into the best club in Wimbledon (high-praise indeed) later at weekends - eaten there once and never ordered so much as a bag of crisps since!
Fred - 8 Apr 2003 13:15
A sort of bar/restaurant which does the finest cocktails in SW19. It's currently being done up but who knows what it'll be like when it re-opens this week.
