Handily located near Leeds Metropolitan University and the University of Leeds. Lovely place to sit upstairs in the open and have a beer, cider or whatever on a summer evening.

Now selling 3 real ales. Always wanted to go back to this place due to its quirkyness. Not bad mostly full of students drinking cheap beer. It also sells food.

It seems the barge now extends out onto a large grassy knoll to the side, very relaxing and there's not many pubs around where you can get a pint and relax on grass while savouring it, especially in city centre Leeds! The problem is they do about 20 different lagers but not a single proper beer.

Cool pub, been a few times when I've visited Leeds. I like the fact it's shaped like a boat, I've been on the upstairs bit and the inside bit. Has a pool table too!

Really good pub, friendly staff and a bit different from the norm!

If you can stomach a lager it's actually quite a nice place to spend a summers' afternoon watching the world go by. I don't see a use for it between August and May though.

As the barge is a scream pub and located across from Leeds polly, you can guess the age of the average drinker in the Dry Dock. However, there really isn't anywhere quite like it so pop in just for one. There will always be a scruffy kid you can thrash at pool and when the sun comes out, sit on the top deck and enjoy. A friendly place that is heaving on weekend due to the late bar and host of the worst gents room in Leeds. I remember the days of sausage, beans, chips and a pint of carling premier for 3 quid. O to be a tax dodging student once more.

Has to be seen to be believed - a big boat (or is that a large barge?) dropped by the roadside outside Leeds Met Uni.

Surreal, this place, being a boat in the middle of the road! Didn't encounter any problems with door staff, and the pricing was pretty standard for a Scream pub, with the usual lack of decent beers and odd decor. A weird place, but essential, I'd say, if you're on a night out in this top city.

Love the place, cheep beer, fit girls and even the extremely camp new manager Rich "Dicky" Hammond was very welcomeing...

open late, cheap beer. Esp good when the weather makes it possible to go upstairs. Its strange to be sat in a boat really and if you take advantage of all their offers you may begin to feel (sea)sick. That was the worst joke ever. I am lame. Anyway, i'd recommend this place.

Great idea for a pub but they used to play crap rap "music" too load. This was back in the mid 90s. It might have changed now.

Beer is average, but cheap. I have not been in on any day other than a Tuesday, but it's still the normal Scream prices on other days.

However, not your normal Scream pub, I might add...

Definitely worth a night out to see for yourself.

Gorgeous manager!!! a lovely man who knows how to run a pub properly and treat his customers well!

It's a pub you have to have a drink in as how many times can you say you've had a pint in a boat in the middle of a city? Beer's crap, but it's 1 a pint on a Tuesday night and its open late every night (even til 12 on a Sunday).

Its not full of kids as theyre not allowed. Its quite a nice bight and unusual use of space. Really friendly bar staff. Treat you ace as theyre always ready for that mystery customer.

They serve beer outside, they're not that stupid! Sorry my comments below refer to the fact they don't let you ORDER food to eat outside- nothing to stop you taking it upstairs after you get it though. . .
Paul - 22 Mar 2004 17:01
Have they stopped serving beer to take outside? Fools! That was the best bit! Mind you, we did occasionally have to take a trip across the road into the Met Bar to get more when it was getting too busy inside. A word of warning: navigating through traffic carrying pints is trickier than you think! :o)

most unique pub I've ever drank in. Really. During the day it does fill with goths, but don't let that put you off- its a pretty good pub. Nothing special about the beers, but the food is pretty good. Shame they refuse to serve it outside, since there's few things better than sitting up top drinking cold beer on a hot day, and birdwatching the Met students from across the way
Paulo - 21 Jan 2004 16:58
Terrible full of small kids, very dark and dank inside not well ventilated smoke hangs off the ceiling. Can be too busy when it is warm

This pub used to be really good, gone downhill since a refit in 2000, and since it got a 1am licence. The bar used to be in the centre, with seating on either side, but it closed all that summer and they moved it to the side of the pub. Kind of killed the atmosphere a bit, though the relentless It's a Scream decor hasn't helped either. It's the only pub in the area to have a late licence, and so ends up full of seriously smashed students most of the time. It's still good to sit outside on a sunny evening, but it's more like a studenty nightclub/bar now than the lower key place it used to be.

There's no denying that this a great, and very original pub. It used to be a small cargo boat, and was transplanted to the grassy area opposite Leeds Met Uni in the mid 90s by the guy who now owns the Wardrobe (the Leeds jazz club near the College of Music). During the summer months, the cargo doors are opened, letting sunlight stream in, while the deck has outdoor seating.

A completely unique pub (despite being part of the It's A Scream chain), playing host to some cracking student DJs on some nights.

The beer is pretty normal fare, Caffreys, Guinness, John Smiths Smooth and the like, but very good prices. The food is also decent, with the prices you'd expect for a primarily student bar.

Well worth paying a visit - can get very busy on hot days, but has its quiet moments, and has a different atmosphere to most of the Scream pubs.

Great pub! Good beer, giant Connect-4 and Jenga games, live bands, loads of outdoor seating on the top deck, and the roof can be opened to let the sun into the main pub!
Mark - 30 May 2003 15:48
cheap drinks, cheap women, late license. oh yeah i always end up getting wasted whenever i go there.
mike - 10 Apr 2003 16:51
ITS A BOAT!!!!
Its a big boat slapped in the middle of the round about just across the road from the Leeds Met. Cheap pints (even cheaper with a yellow card) and nice women.
