The Woodlands Tavern, Isleworth: A strange pub that fails to convince. There is nothing inherently wrong with this place; the bar area is pleasingly traditional and there’s a nice seating array. The pool table is a nice touch, too – a rare thing nowadays – but the lighting can be a little bright and the choice of music is invariably poor. It can also feel cold of a night. All in all, not a bad boozer, but not a great one either.

I'm not local but I come here quite often. Have got to know the landlord. Top bloke, very sociable. Have been here while they have had a function on and the food/buffet looks great. Bar staff are friendly. Could do with some more male totty behind the bar though - but that's my opinion!
Have experienced the roast dinners. Top notch. Plate always full. Would be nice to see a few desserts on the menu for the kids. Large beer garden, good for kids. Toilets are clean enough. Locals seem friendly enough too. Shame I live far away as I would come here a lot.

Don't tend to take any interest in food in pubs, but Sunday roasts are the exception. After a hard days graft that took longer than expected, was grateful to find the Woodlands still doing a roast at 1700. Possibly the finest roast I've ever had in a pub, with a keen chef/landlord keen to ensure we were happy as he too appreciated a good roast. Ale not too bad and although front of pub a little too noisy, the back section is fine. Done the job

Just made my rating a zero for showing chelscum tv.
How revolting.

I was in here one afternoon last week and found it to be pleasant enough. It has a pool table, dart board and at least 3 screens, which were showing Chelsea TV during my visit. I found the manager to be polite enough and the pub itself to be clean and spacious.

Pride and GK IPA were available alongside a few lagers and John Smiths Extra Smooth. I can imagine the small smoking section at the rear getting very busy late at night when smoking is not permitted outside the front of the pub.

This is a reasonable pub that probably comes alive when there is some sport on.

Had an enjoyable pint and game or two of darts in here.

Much improved since the youngish manager took over. He's trying really hard and is always friendly and helpful. He does the cooking currently, and again, tries hard to please. A definate crowd of locals - the odd loon, but some friendly faces.

Excellent pub, good location for those coming home from work for a quickie before heading home. Haven't seen any trouble.
Only thing letting it down slightly is the food. Bring on the English traditional pub food.
Landlord is a nice bloke too.

This is a well good local with nice people and a good jukebox. Like the sandwiches. Irish Guvnor wikkid bloke.

The beer may be bland (not many bitter drinkers amongst the locals), but the Guinness is the best for miles around. And as for "anonymous" saying that the pub is "about as genuinely Irish as Michael Flatley", I'm Irish, many of the locals are Irish, the guinness is great, the landlord and landlady (Wille and Kate), and their family come from Limerick (which I think is in Ireland). Most of the bar staff are Irish. It is genuinely Irish in all of these respects, but might not be Irish enough for "anonymous". Maybe they need more shamrocks pasted up on the walls or crap Irish music on tap. You might want to try an "O'Neills" mate - sounds like it is more up your street.

By the way, I agree with Julian. The bar staff are very friendly. As for "rough atmosphere" - I've been drinking there (regularly!) for three years now and never seen one bit of trouble.

This pub has a bit of a rough atmosphere. The beer is all fairly bland stuff. Atleast it's close to the train station.

I visited this pub at the weekend to watch the Lions test match and I must say its a complete shocker. Its dirty, the bar staff were rude and some of the clientele are inbred. Flatulence, burping and know it all opinions are the order of the day. As for being a genuinely Irish pub, its about as genuinely Irish as Michael Flatley.

Genuine Irish (and Irish-owned) pub with magnificent Guinness and friendly staff. Good food, large beer garden during the summer, decent pool table. A bit noisy when there's a big match on (including Gaelic football)but otherwise a great local pub with bags of atmosphere.
