Excellent in all aspects. Arrived just in time to see a superb sunset! Small, but well-kept selection of beer. Very good food and all staff were welcoming. Will always return when I am on the Isle of Wight.

Wonderful...we visited yesterday and were made very welcome by the landlord who went to great lengths to make sure that my wife was happy with the table. As mentioned before, the view out of the back is outstanding...a panorama from Portsmouth and the Spinneker Tower right round to Lymington. We ordered the Sunday lunch of which there was a choice of 5.The lamb was tender and real meat (not processed)and the chicken my wife had was moist and well cooked. You get a huge plate with your meat and a Yorkshire pud..then 7 (yes 7)bowls of vegetables arrive. We had roast spuds,Curried leeks, cabbage, parsnips ,cauliflower, carrots ,butternut squash and celeriac..if memory serves me well. Great value.A good range of beers to choose from and a very nice pint of Landlord to top it all off..Staff attentive and helpful..many thanks

3 room pub with 3 real ales and as previous reviewers state excellent views down to the Solent. The front bar was quiet but quite atmospheric. There is also a small, windowless room between the bar and lounge with no access to the bar. Ales on were Island Yachtsman's Ale, Timothy Taylor Landlord & Adnams Broadside. The front door is quite amusing. Whether it's the building or the door at an angle, I'm not sure. But it clearly doesn't fit its frame.

Great pub...possibly the best views for an IOW pub...the rear looks out over fields that sweep down to the Solent..

The food is great and varied and very reasonable...and there's a drinking bar at the top end....Recommended

Superb. Excellent food and beer, atmospheric public bar. Restaurant to the rear with spectacular Solent views. Friendly staff managed to seat an unbooked group of 15(!) on August Bank Holiday Sunday, for Sunday lunch.

Stopped by for a Sunday lunch a week ago without a reservation and my family was seated within 15 minutes. The Sunday roast lunch was superb with an astounding array of vegetables. By far one of the best value lunches in the UK. And the management couldn't have been friendlier. Add to that its beautiful views and you have one of the most impressive pubs in the country.

Having driven past this pub hundreds of times over the years, we went there for a Sunday lunch. It was by far the best Sunday roast I have ever had, an opinion repeated by all four of us. The staff were very efficient and friendly, the food was fresh, local produce and excellent value for money. We will definately be gong there again, hopefully very soon

Superb views from the terrace across the Solent. Great service - friendly and efficient. Good food and a decent pint as well - Shepherd Neame or similar ilk. Definitely worth a visit.

Wonderful welcome. Barmaid remembered my name two weeks later after first visit. Always busy but never cramped. Lovely log fires. Good well kept ales and a selection of some fine continental lagers including Warsteiner. That was a surprise! Food is excellent. Highly recommended.
