First pub I ever ventured into in Norwich. It wasn't too bad. I stopped in Norwich for eight more years!!! Beer wasn't too bad either.

Hello Ed, I havent been in recently but looked in the door and it does look a bit cleaner than I remember it. Pity though they didnt clean up their clientel though, same old Im afraid and I know that for a fact as Saturday afternoon I was shopping in Magdalen street with my children and there were a few idiots outside the front door with their pints of stella, shouting abuse at nice people. Do normal people have to tolerate that kind of stuff? think the landlord needs to open his eyes a bit wider.

Hi, Poppi. The question now is, did you actually enter the pub before posting your new review? I see you comment on the curtains- and I agree it's deplorable that they are kept closed all day long, although i know of a number of other 'locals' where this happens- and you comment on the people coming and going from the pub, but you don't give your verdict on the actual interior or drinks on offer. If you haven't actually been in and had a beer I feel it's a little unfair to condemn the place once more- the landlord is clearly making an effort and needs an influx of 'ordinary' customers to appreciate this.

Hi again, well the Cat and Fiddle is still a dump, about 2% tidier if that maybe, but the usual dodgy customers in tow. And Ed, the reason why we went back to check it after your review was we were amazed that someone could give it a decent review as you did, not because we like it.It might help if they removed the dirty curtains from the windows so that people could look in and see how "different" it is now. Having them closed all day just means you have something to hide.

Yes but I actually visited the pub on the day I wrote my review- I suspect those who have contradicted it are basing their reports on past visits. If they hated the pub that much they wouldn't have returned in April 2007 to find out if I was wrong. So go back now and give it another go- you'll find it perfectly clean and decent with a pleasant pubby atmosphere, if not many customers.

Hi Ed, you must have been in a really good mood when you gave the review for this dump, or mistaken it for the fat cat? The place is dodgy, dirty, scruffy with Some of norwichs unfortunates and undesirables as customers. Dont go unless you are a sucker for trouble

Think the comment by ed chambers must be about a different pub. 'CLEAN' it hasn't been cleaned since the old queen was on the throne. Type of place where you wipe your feet on the way out. 'FRIENDLY' if you go in there without pepper spray, a stab jacket nad an AK47 you're a braver man than me Gunga Din. I have to say it's worth a visit from the novelty point of view but don't look sidways at anyone, don't pay with a note bigger than a fiver, don't go in with a flash mobile or you'll come out without it, don't go to the toilet in any circumstances unless your wearing a full nuclear biological and chemical protection suit and gas mask. The person who discribed it as Norwich's shit hole was being rather kind.
