The Rose is a music venue/real ale pub in the southern part of the city. We visited early on a Saturday evening. There were a handful of people in. But, I was really impressed by the beer and cider selection. The 5 ales were Three Blind Mice Sweet Jesus, Thornbridge Rocky Road Lucaria, Sarah Hughes Dark Riby Mild, Clouded Minds 99 Steps, Nene Valley Manhattan Project. In addition, there were 6 ciders - Snail's Bank Elderflower Gin & Tonic, Thistly Cross Whisky Cask, Lilley's Cheeky Pig, Seacider Bakewell Tart, Gwatkin No Bull & Broadoak Moonshine. A number of musical instruments line the walls and there is a bar billiards table at the rear. Lacked a huge amount of atmosphere when we visited. But, the drinks selection more than made up for that.

Plain looking interior pub with 6/7 Norfolk Bear brews on - knew what to expect after visiting Ketts tavern. A pleasant pub to be in.

The management are making a real effort to improve things in this pub. I went to a quiz night last night which was rather good (we had the chance to win nearly 100 pounds on the snowball question!). They had some lovely "bears" on (Norfolk pronunciation of "beers", and the name of their fine selection of micro brews - their brewery is called The Norwich Bear Company). Friendly pub, good ales - give it a try!

Large pub with a great range of well kept ale. Popped in here before a Norwich game and the home fans were friendly as were the staff. Been here several times and been impressed each time.

Just thought I should praise this pub, this was the final of a crawl of pubs a group of us finished with on Saturday night.
We had never been before, I was very impressed with the friendliness of the people and the bar staff, also I would recommend this pub to anyone who loves foreign beers, this pub has it all, many ales from all over Britain, and were serving Good Indian food. Although I only visit Norwich 3 times a year, this will be one I will be heading back to when I return.

The last pub from yesterdays post football ale crawl. As the below comment states they currently have their beer festival on. I am not to sure how many ales were available but a very wide choice. A very friendly pub both staff and customers. Yesterday was the curry tasting event as well. I tasted the madras curry once officially and once sneakily. As it had been quite a session yesterday we were rather hungry by now. I thought I better order an official one now and pay for it.

Open plan with a row of high-backed seating forming alcoves. Altogether a pleasant place to drink in. Up to 6 well kept real ales, mostly local brews and also stocks continental bottled beers and speciality fruit beers from St. Peters' suffolk brewery.
