please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Haven't ventured into A Bar 2 Far for it's weekend music. However watched the footie there on Sunday in 3D. There was a good atmosphere, service was pretty quick, the 3D was amazing. All in all a decent bar.

Having gone to Bar to for over 8 years and not been there as a regular in resent times I am disgusted that they charge you 3 pounds to get in a pound for your coat drink prices are not cheep and yet the toilets have got to be the worst I have every seen in Europe the bar smells of the toilets there"s is no toilet paper in the toilets there is what is close to sewage all over the floor and when mention to the manager to get told it comes from the top and there was no effort to ease this all I and my friends have to think .."WHAT HAS HAPPEN TO BAR TO FAR" what was considered a up and coming bar has NO comparison to other bars in the area and shows when it is visited on a night that is not a weekend. I am sooo upset at the state of the bar and the respondance to our complaint. Such a shame as the music was good.

In desperate need of refurb..... The whole place stinks as soon as u wlk in u can smell the toilets!!! DRAINAGE PROBLEMS MAYBE?????
If u can stand the stench overall its not too bad..... Cheap drinks and it deffo does wot it says on the tin!!!! somewhere for unsavioury types 2go and shake a leg it also has a fantastic garden but again it needs a little TLC which is a shame because it was crackin when it was last redone.......
Doorstaff are ignorant and rude when they work these doors yet when they are workin @tram and social they r as nice as pie....

@supersmooth

Vince Healey? Is that old old chancer still in business, lol? Must have a chum or two in HMRC....

Just noticed a remarkable coincidence - if you look at lukinner's profile, you will see he has posted favourable reviews for three pubs- and they all happen to belong to Ascot Inns!
Sorry, Mr.Healy, if you're going to praise your own pubs, you'll have to cover up your tracks better than this!

limpbiz - 4 Apr 2010 01:11
passed in there yesterday with a few of my mates for the football, we returned later in the evening to see what the dj was saying.. WOW the atmosphere was great, crazy mix of people and the dj played a good session.

the doorstaff were friendly and professional, the staff was on form.

the only thing i can say is.some people need to take dance lessons , i never laughed so much before, make the night even entertaining.
limpbiz - 21 Mar 2010 16:23

i spoke to the staff, they said that they may be having sky 3-D. they wasnt sure when in april this is happening.

i've been drinking in a bar2 now for about 4 years now, why do people slate this place. all this place needs is a good refurb.the staff are friendly and they seem to work well together.

tootings getting to be a rougher area, and i ve been in there when all they seem to do stop rude individuals coming in. i believe that the manager has got a hard job, the guys that work for him are doing great too.

weekends are pretty good too, fridays are a getting lively to say, i prefer the saturday nite vibe, its relaxed. i never stayed in there till 3am. next time i'll give it try.

manager please get someone to refurb. you run a good place.

milans - 10 Mar 2010 21:27
What a great place. I pop in to watch the footie all the time, it's the best sports venue in Tooting. There's a great range of drinks, very affordable and good grub and they're quick in getting you served. Although they've got three screens it's usually full for the big games so you'll need to get there early if you want to be seated.
lukekinner - 16 Feb 2010 18:35
@thomasgx1 I think they did you a favour. Any bar ( however busy ) that has strict dress code and asks if you are bringing girls in is v v likely to be sh!t and full of chavs. This 'bar' is terrible, its always empty as anyone with a brain can pick the Tramshed / Selkirk / Antelope instead.

Its nice that its there so the chavs can all hang out together and provide me with a chuckle about how bad it looks inside as I go to the others. It reminds me of Tooting 5 years ago and how far its come. When the Tramshed was the Tramshed Its a scream special. I do lament the loss of Hoochie Mama's as it was quite funny but I think the neighbours complained and the license was binned. I mean who lives next to a pub and the complains? Cocktards.

In short. Don't go in unless you are on some Loius Theroux style fact finding mission, or want to be amused by its punters and possibly abused by its staff.

1 / 10 as it picks up a point for reminding us all how bad some of the pubs could be when we get annoyed with our locals
tootster - 18 Dec 2009 16:01
went there the other week with a mate on a friday or saturday night and the bouncers wouldn't let us in despite the place being pretty dead at 10ish. Why? Because my mate wasn't wearing shoes. He was wearing black trainers though which most bouncers overlook. We didn't look scally and i usually spend quite a bit on a night out so i felt b2f had shot itself in the foot a bit (no pun intended). I did get the impression though that if he had gone home, changed and come back that they would've found another reason to not let him in.

Dunno, just sometimes a bit of common sense wouldn't go a miss.
thomasgx1 - 17 Jun 2009 16:58
Over all not a bad boozer. Been through the wars a bit.
Been throuh a few managers too. The latest seems to doing a good job, Robby I believe is the new gaffer.
Seems he is trying to take this pub to new places!!
I agree the R&B is getting bit much, a good house session will never go a miss!
I was in there on a Thursday not to long ago and they were playing some Rock music! I felt this was a very good break from the norm. It was really nice to hear a bit of head banging tunes. The dj was pretty good, though the pub was not very busy he did do his best in making sure he played to a level that was agreeable, and there were a number of people singing along and doing there best head banging impressions. This is a good idea to host a rock night, and I undersatand this will, I hope become a regular thing!!
The staff seem friendly enough, although at times, a smile would be nice.
I will be going back to this bar in the future.
Lets hope that there is less r&b and more house and rock

Release - 16 May 2009 14:38
I agree with the last comment re the music if they are referring to the daytime music. Its very random but I believe it is one of those automated music systems. This Bar has had quite a few managers in the last few years. The last 2 didn't last very long and both did a terrible job, However they have got Rob (who I thought was the manager before?? - My mistake). He is very helpful and eager to please he also seems very friendly which is unlike his predecessors. All the bar staff seem very nice and service is quick. The bar has a late licence on fridays and saturdays, The music policy on Saturday is Rnb, House and Reggae, Whereas Fridays its slightly cheesier. They have the same d.j's on both nights now and they bring a good atmosphere. I requested a song (Dj Roddie- I think) which he said he would play - He didn't.... But came and found me to advise he couldn't find it and played another for me. I thought that was nice as he didn't have to do that!! Very Friendly bloke. Bouncers like all other posts on here need some work. They do need to do something about the hoodies outside the front as they are very intimidating and it would certainly deter people from coming in. All in I would recommend this Bar for a quiet drink during the day or a big night out on Friday or Saturday!!!
justfun - 2 Mar 2009 10:53
And they're now playing 'Ive Got A Brand New Combine Harvester' just before 'We Wish You A Merry Christmas' in mid Janaury. Seriously, the music policy is absolutely horrendous!!!!!!!!
Pauro - 21 Jan 2009 21:17
An ok place, but jaysis will someone do something about the randomised music? I've actually country and western two tracks running. In A Bar Too Far? Madness!
Pauro - 21 Jan 2009 21:11
William (i think) the new manager is doing an ok job, seems to be a little more strict which B2F has needed, just need the hoodies to stop terrorising people out front and it will be a gr8 late night venue to drink in . . but on a more serious note door men need to be a little more door-men like.

anonymous - 13 Oct 2007 14:22
we have to give em top marks for effort really , they do try.

i think the r+b , hip hop etc ( rude boy music ) should be scrapped. This is the only late night venue in broadway ( legally.. )

if they played pumping deep house this could be an awsome dj bar. Well , thats my opinion anyways. I have only lived here for about a year and get fed up with the lack of late bars.

its so big, so v hard to 'fill up' but like i say , invest in good djs and advertise it well , keep it FREE entry and it would be rammed IMHO !

good luck bra2far !
petey.p - 3 Jul 2007 16:26
Does exactly what it says on the tin. My parents came down to visit me in Tooting and we stopped off in A Bar 2 Far for a brief drink during the daytime, along with some food and the staff were exceptionally friendly. I've only been in there twice at night myself and managed to enjoy myself both times - and the same friendly staff member that served my parents was still friendly even under the hellish conditions of a Friday night shift and even managed to remember my drinks every time I went to the bar.

Some of the other customers may lean towards the rough side, but that's more or less just the population of Tooting and nothing to do with the bar itself. A very decent bar to go to.
anonymous - 17 Jun 2007 23:25
How hard do these chaps have to try? Give em a break. It does what it says on the tin. Some unsavoury characters are now out, the food is good and prompt, they have your best interests at heart. Well done Georges, and Vince, you need to improve your handicap!!
billnwill - 11 Jun 2007 23:24
So the bar too far boys had a reccy session around Tooting then!

So after visiting lots of bars a dessert in one of them is appropriate? Pray tell, what should a creme brulee be and do you not recognise vanilla pods when you see them?

All answers on a postcard please
anonymous - 7 Jun 2007 00:07
Nice place, good service, lovely pizzas. Been to this bar a few times and found that the staff are plesant and very helpful I had a pizza the other day which was the best i had in a long while. i was also looking for some quality rum around the area and thankfully came across it. A must try if you are in the area
anonymous - 26 Apr 2007 20:46
Thank you for all your comments. We have just registered on BITE and would like to ask everyone who visited us to let us know what you thought good or bad. We have noted the comment about the dress code policy which was introduced sometime last year which is know under review.
When visiting us please pick up a comment card (recently introduced) and let us know what you think.
abar2far - 26 Apr 2007 19:35
Maybe slightly against the idea of B.I.T.E., but I've been there a few times for lunch and found the place amazing. Have sat in the beer garden (v. spacious) and have lovely (cheap!) food with waiter service on the food and drinks from friendly staff. They will also take our food orders over the phone before we arrive so that we can get the job done in a lunch hour. Have never had a problem with dress code there even though I'm always wearing trainers, but I must admint this was at lunchtimes.
buzwad - 13 Mar 2007 13:47
used to be a good late drinking option on a sunday or thursday in particular. avoid on friday and saturday nights at all costs when the chav brigade come out to play. stupid dress code.
westyw9 - 23 Feb 2007 17:22
I went to this pub with my friends for a few drinks, when my husband and his friends arrived they were told they could not come in because black shoes where required. My husband had black shoes on and when this was pointed out he was told buy an exteamly rude bouncer that they had to be black leather! Are you serious! This is tooting broadway for gods sake! A bar to far is so far up its own backside its not worth the effort. It defeats the purpose of a local and I for one will not be returning. If I wanted arrogant snobery I'd go into the city.
anonymous - 27 Jan 2007 17:49
After stupidly popping in for a pint last weekend, the bouncers looked at myself and a friend like we were scum. I think we must have been dressed too smartly for this crap hole.
jcreedy - 1 Sep 2006 21:43
Recently refurbished and proof that in the immortal words of William Shakespeare... "You can't polish a turd." They still have a cretinous dress code policy... no shorts in the garden after 9pm... So, if that's you, and you've been sunning yourself all day then off you go home to change (and don't come back). The drinks are outrageously priced and the 'entertainment' is like a bad evening in Benidorm. The one saving grace for this pub is that it's open late and, even if it started playing Dutch Electro Country it would still be preferable to the two cesspools that are the Tramshed and the Gordon Bennett.
SilverBullet - 16 Aug 2006 17:57
I think with the Tramshed and Gordon Bennett (now the Royal Oak I believe), updating themselves slightly the Bar to Far has reacted by doing up it's layout and furture -it seems to have made an improvement.

It's not a bad place and I have had fun in there, I think the large beer garden will be good for the summer and the fact it's air conditioned it good too.

They do show the football, there is only a limited area of the bar that can view the one screen.
herbaltea - 15 Mar 2006 13:57
I cannot belive the dress policy that this place have....my friend was asked to remove his hat in the garden...what is that all about...when questioned about other people inside the bar wearing hats and bandanas the big hippo said...."thats religion"...come on stop discriminating against white people who just wnat to have a pint and something to eat after work.....by the way we had to wait an hour for a plate of nachos and the doormen are a discrace.
sexpot - 27 Aug 2004 13:29
Sorry, that last comment should've been not let in. ;)
Mr. - 23 Apr 2004 16:05
I don't think this bar is that bad. Only once have I not been let in because of clothes, and have never been smartly dressed. It was because I was wearing a sports top. If you are the sort that thinks a bar is a doss house just because people aren't in Armani suits then don't go.

Okay the beer is a bit expensive, and the food is okay without being great, but people have been a bit harsh.

Nice atmosphere, nicer beer garden, and the bar staff will ask somebody who is obviously too drunk to leave.
Lager - 23 Apr 2004 16:04
tacky and tasteless, dirty glasses, bad beer and possibly the cheesiest music policy ive ever encountered.
food was dump too
mark - 10 Mar 2004 17:04
Ok bar, same dj fri & sat so al ittle boring on the music side!
anonymous - 23 Nov 2003 19:12
Lager is good, bitter is awful. Beer garden out back is quite nice. Very loud in evenings. There are nicer places in Tooting.
anon. - 7 Oct 2003 11:22
it's alright - nothing special but the beer gardens nice. Never had any problem whatsoever with the doormen or bar staff. Actually think its the best pint of Kroney in Tooting
Seb - 26 Sep 2003 17:42
really, really poor. trying too hard to be something it isn't. outdoors ok, usual rubbish eurofizz lager on tap and undrinkable bitter. avoid.
jeffrey bernard - 19 Sep 2003 15:27
it rocks, you all have attitude problems... better than anything else in tooting!! i mean look at gorden bennets or the mitre! yuk yuk! keep up the good work guys!!
m and the gang - 9 Sep 2003 08:05
Miserable bar staff, ignorant rude bouncers..get rid of em!!!
Apart from that ok pub..late licence til 2am fri and sat!
StellaArtois - 8 Sep 2003 18:00
UGH! Bit like drinking in a car showroom!! Outside in summer is okay though. Toilets are minging.
Buns - 29 Aug 2003 16:12
Oh c'mon it's not as bad as everyone is saying. I'm not generally a fan of door staff but I have never had any trouble from them. In fact I think they are a good idea as they keep the Tooting scumbags out.
It is open till 1:00am at the weekends and has a nice interior for Tooting bars, including a good outside area.
Ben - 15 Aug 2003 13:00
awfull agressive bullying door types.avoid,avoid,avoid.shithouse.the brewery should investigate these thugs.they are losing them alot of money.
brian tench - 3 Aug 2003 21:25
this bar has the rudest most ignorant unhelpfull fat bouncers it has ever been my misfortune to enconter.I and my colleagues at st georges hospital in future, boycott this hideos establishment until the above staff are removed.they have lost alot of money by there poor attitude.
perry como - 3 Aug 2003 21:18
Would love to meet my sg there after work each day but they don't sell VODKA CRUISERS or BUNDY RUM so i'll keep going to Belushi's thanx!!!
MEL - 16 Jul 2003 10:37
The idea is right, not bad looking inside. A bit like a Slug & Lettuce, however it's full of Giro cashing scumbags. When is Tooting ever going to get rid of these scumbags
Gary - 3 Jul 2003 17:34
Was in there at the weekend with some mates, one of whom was wearing tracksuit trousers. They had the cheek to tell him ONCE HE HAD BOUGHT A DRINK that he was wearing the wrong kind of clothes and could he please leave. Crap.
Briony - 23 Apr 2003 09:46
Comfy sofas inside, or tables outside. They do a very nice duck wrap.
