user reviews of the Trafalgar, Aldershot

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Trafalgar looks like a traditional boozer from the inside. But the interior is quite plain, with 2 rooms and limited seating. One room has a pool table. As a military town, there is plenty of military-related items on the walls. Music was on a touch too loud and the ale was Tribute. Not the best.

A cliquey trad boozer, very orientated to the armed forces. it has recently started doing real ale -- the bottled Fuller's Bengal lancer in bottles is good too.

Went to this pub last night. Was really looking forward a couple of real ales before the Aldershot- Hereford match in a pub that was previiusly mentioned for it's great beer. To my horror when I asked if there were any real ales as both the pumps were not on I was offered fosters. Pub itself looked ok. Went to the Garden Gate where I had some superb Moorhouse beer.

First of all is the greeting you get from the staff, its like your part of a family, their family.
then there is he nostalgia of the Traff as its locally known the place is steeped in history with conections to the Parachute Regiment and its attached regiments and battalions, Armed Forces day the Traff is heaving with people from all over the world, and I mean from all over the World.
If your a visiter to Aldershot then this is the place to go to find out all about the history of the armed forces that used to be in "the shot" (Loll the Landlady ) can tell you most of the stories some will make you laugh and some will make you cry but there is a comraderie that the Traff will always be there for you the serving soldier, and those that have gone on before you that are with affection remebered. GREAT BEER, GREAT BANTER, GREAT PUB.

Still a great little boozer, steeped in military tradition and history, you can't beat the Traf. Very friendly patrons and staff, jukebox and pool table.

This is my all time favourite pub, no frills, no bullcrap, no young idiots. I used to drink here constantly years ago and still visit now and again, brilliant honest proper pub.

The Traf, Christ what a place. I used to gig there every Wednesday evening then on Saturdays with Ron O'Dell and Davy Phelps from about 86 to late 88 when I got posted. Had some bloody good times, especially Wednesdays when he rugby teams used to come in. Phenomenal amount of beer drunk and dosh taken over the bar. If anyone knows Davy or Ron, pass on my greeting to them and ask them to get in touch.

Lovely pub and love the military feel to the place (pics on the walls), really stands out and we should all be proud to have a pub like this that recognizes these good people

Friendly locals and staff, not mega packed but comfortably busy on a sat night and a good laugh for sure, look about for a guy wearing a dress and other odd bits of fancy dress for no real reason well funny and hes a good laugh

ignore the post by yorts, theres no peril with entering this pub and the paras left aldershot in 2000, although still visited by old regulars, any one is welcome. a total variety here.. although the pub still has a military theme and is now owned by ex para. he has refurbshed and it looks fantastic, a real old fashioned local, not like these comercial pubs you find in town. a great place to drink with plenty of friendly characters, watch out for james the mad scots man (hilarious) and mad one tracey ( equally amusing).

Enter at your peril! It's a Para's place. Interesting decor though.
