Nice traditional drinkers pub. Could be a bit more welcoming to non regulars though...we dont bite.

I've been here a few times now over the past six years or so when visiting the adjacent football club. Small "traditional" boozer with TEA and London Pride on handpump. The TEA was especially well kept. Seemed busier than in the past with a nice friendly buzz. I was only drinking myself, but they seemed to be doing a good trade in meals which I hadn't noticed before. Far better than the Freeholders.

We met up here before going to the local boatyard to start a narrowboat trip. Hogs Back TEA was OK and the food reasonably priced. A decent local boozer.

I live in Essex, and sadly pubs like this no not exist here any more, all are large cold business like venues. The Leathern Bottle which I have visited on approx 6 occasions now is SUPERB in all aspects of an English pub, very very friendly atmosphere, great food, very snug and welcoming and locals use it for whatever reason and they all seem happy about their time there. The staff are fantastic, I just wish we had a local like this here in Waltham Abbey

A small and traditional local, very convenient for Godalming Town FC...next door...its a small single room with a raised area up a couple of steps to the right of the bar. Carpeted throughout, mainly traditional table and chair style with bar stools and pew style benches in the raised area. A dartboard in the corner was being excitedly used, there is also a fruit machine, plus a couple of TVs showing Sat PM, horse racing and rugby.
A bit of a canal/narrow boat theme with pictures and old boat name plates about.
I liked it here, fire lit on a very blustery day, good local feel. Pride and Hogs Back TEA, Tea at 2.75 in good condition.
The food menu is no nonsense and good value stuff with sarnies around 2 and mains in the region of 6. No fancy stuff.

TEA and Pride. Looks like a fairly traditional boozer

A gem of a pub. This sort of place is like gold dust.

I quite liked this pub, the lager was good, and we found a quiet place to chat, olde worldly type of boozer

Not my cup of tea - the beer was good, but the atmosphere was very unwelcoming to this non-regular. There's a lot to be said for a pub for locals which doesn't change with passing fashions, but surely it wouldn't hurt to redecorate some time?

Sells Beer,Sells Food,Its a Pub.
If you want a pub to buy a beer in then stop off and have one here.
If you want a Pub to play the latest pop records while you pose at the bar for six hours with the same bottle of Budweiser....
Two words spring to mind and one of them is Off!!!

I'd just like to add I don't mind about the people in here being older - was just a little puzzled as to why younger people don't tend to come here

OK, I'm a regular, but I am a regular because they treat me so well. Knowing that I only have an hour's lunch break they have my drink ready.

The clientele may be on the older side, but that's fine by me. They are witty and welcoming. A proper pub. I count them as friends.

Much better than the Pet Shop at Liphook.

They have a dartboard here with plenty of darts. Seems to be free to play. There was almost no young people here, most people seem to be 50+, so maybe a bit of a retired pub

Not very multi-generational. Where do the younger people disappear to?

Small old fashioned no-frills pub next to Godalming Town FC on a main road. Slightly 70's feel to the place but smart enough and friendly with decent Hog's Back beers on handpump.

I don't often visit the Leathern Bottle as it is a bit off my beaten track, but I had reason to call in twice in three days last week and found it to still be an excellent establishment.
