Looks remarkably like William Bray from outside - but this must be hidden away because i've never seen it despite being in the area a good few times!

Ok pub, a little lacking in atmosphere but they do a nice local beer (Shere Drop I think). I haven't been in here with the bairn so can't comment on family friendliness.

Pleasant bar and very smart dining room. Food is either ploughmans / sandwich or 10+ main plates. There is a middle ground that could be filled especially on a weekday lunchtime.

Shere Drop was very good.

A party of 15 walkers from a church in Tolworth had a great lunch stop here today. We booked in advance (essential as it was busy) and had the most wonderful food, with excellent service. Not one of the group had a bad word to say about the food. Recommended were the burger (great value) and the Calve's liver - very tastey. Not cheap but well worth it. Congratulations on the makeover and long may you continue the high standard. We look forward to a return visit.

This pub has now been renamed The William Bray - I think there is a local connection somewhere. Anyway, we stopped off for lunch last Sunday and were not disappointed. The pub has been refurbished to a very high standard and there was a wonderful picture of James Hunt in the restaurant. I had brill and my girlfriend had roast lamb and we were not disappointed. Excellent quality and I am prepared to pay a little more for quality. As an aside, I would like to say that my girlfriend visited the ladies toilets whilst we were there which she said were of hotel standard and sparkling clean (she has been known to run a finger along the top of doors to check for dust!!). A lovely experience and we will certainly be returning.

Wow! Finally this stunning, picturesque, English village has a pub that is worth visiting! I visited The William Bray today for lunch with my husband and was amazed. Everything about it was fantastic! The refurb has been fantastic, the food was cooked to perfection, there was a good selection of wine and beer, the staff were friendly and approchable and of course the setting is quintessensially English. We will definitely be going back and I would say that the owners of "the other pub in the village" need to buck their ideas up - this new pub is serious competition.

Not sure who actually owns this but who cares.
Very smart, clean and crisp. Very fine ale Shere drop, and very nice Ranmore, plus on my visit youngs and bombadier.
I have heard great reports of the food and the restaurant was packed, the food that came passed us looked very nice. A tad pricey in all departments but if you are getting quality the extra is well worth it. This place could cause some real problems for the rubbish down the road. A real pleasure to visit.
Good luck to the new people----- whoever they are.

Having been closed for a refurb this pub is re-opening tonight and has been re-named the Wiliam Bray. Apparently it is now owned by Richard Hammond from Top Gear.

Pub wasn't shut this afternoon although there was a sign saying no food was on. Youngs Ordinary and an indifferent Shere Drop were available. Three separate areas: main bar, then a room with a pool table and finally the restaurant area. Stone floor in the main bar with a faded carpet. A few locals in when I was there at about 4pm.

Have been told the pub is shut ??
The story go`s about this place that Youngs Brewery were building 2 pubs at the same time and the plans got mixed up which resulted in a London pub ending up in a village and a village pub ending up in London, if you look at this building it just does not fit in that well in this lovely village.

Fairly quiet on a Bank Holiday mid afternoon but post the lunch rush. Three areas, a restaurant to the front, bar at the rear sandwiching a small central pool room. The bar has a stone flagged floor, partly carpeted and a long wooden bar against the back wall. A pleasant garden has several of the usual bench tables and a fish pond, thoughtfully fenced to prevent accidents. B&B available in this picture postcard village. Surrey Hills Shere Drop, in v good nick, plus Youngs Ordinary. Nice full pints too!

I here its changing hands soon lets hope it gives the other pub in the village a run for its money as Shere should have at least one good pub.

A somewhat down at heel establishment. High point of our visit was the real fire; low point was the overloud radio. Didn't this used to be a clean and comfortable Young's pub years ago?

I visited here lunchtine on a weekday when it was quiet. The food portions were very generous, and generally quite well prepared. The woman serving was very helpful and well meaning, but perhaps a bit too informal. She also seemed overly busy with other distractions.

Visited on Sunday lunchtime with a party of 6. Food very good value, huge ploughmans for 5-50. Pint of Shere Drop was very good. Pub was full, but not too full for us to turn up at 1:15 and get a table for 6.

Nice pub, good atmosphere, excellent food at reasonable prices. Often features live music.
