Seems The Victoria is now in the "one of the estimated 20 a week" club. Yes, closed and boarded up. A victim of avarice, ignorance and greed, perhaps or just a sign of the changing economic climate and Government Policy. Previous reviews may hold the key, but for the time being looks like "Goodnight, thanks and a safe journey home". Visit date 22/2/2013

Don't know if the pub has changed hands recently but the previous comments are a surprise, I have never been here before and I was taken by a business colleague. We all had fish and chips and it was the best pub fish and chips I have ever had. The upstairs restaurant was great with excellent views of the coast and the golf course. I will happily drive the 1 1/2 hours from Royston to eat here again.

The Victoria Inn is now a huge disappointment. The upstairs dining room was extremely loud due to the large party celebrating there and the food was instantly forgettable. I ordered the macaroni cheese with salad and garlic bread and I received a child's portion complete with a small amount of garnish and two cold pieces of garlic bread. After eating the macaroni which took about a minute, I mentioned the bread to one of the food servers, the girl took away my finished plate and then returned with hot garlic bread on the already dirty place with the cutlery I had used. My partner complained about this to the management and they took the price of one soft drink and a beer off the tab. We were in and out in 30 minutes as it was too uncomfortable to contemplate staying for dessert. The Victoria Inn is now just a glorified McDonalds, but with smaller portions and there are much better places you can spend your money (Grundisburgh Dog, Ipswich) - even the local tea shops on the sea front, which is where we ended up to finish our meal
