Surprisingly this was one of the better places we went to on our day out.

Great view over the beach and they had a very good cheap wine deal on which was need as everywhere else was a bloody rip off!

7/10

It is what it is, a very large barn of a pub, (it used to the town's cinema), that caters for a young crowd, and, unless you are bonkers, it would not be the first port of call for a decent meal, fine wines and a good pint of beer.........but it is good at what it is a loud brash pub with a young crowd.

Nice view but that's about it. This place is basically a drink warehouse designed to accommodate the packs of young men and women on stag weekends. If you like good beer don't bother, if you like cheap industrial lager and sticky floors this is the place for you!

For anyone visiting newquay and looking for a good place to eat or one big party let me tell you about walkabout!!! First thing to point out is the great location. you cant miss it if your heading down to the beach, with its large balcony over looking the sea. I come here with my family every year, and every year we come here to eat ( i highly recomend the burgers... you will never get a burger quite as impressive anywhere else!) The staff are always happy and friendly and when its a hot day and they have those big windows open its lovely!
In the eveing if your looking for a place to party you cant beat it. theres always been a good band playing when we've gone down and the drinks offers are very reasonable.
weve had some great times there!!

great location.
awful service awful burger tasted like dust. Usually the burgers are great but on this occasion on the beer burger deal it honestly was appauling.
bar staff need to smile and remember manners cost nothing.

Pretty good overall. Bouncers a bit choosy! Loved the Oasis tribute band back in July, they rocked.

one of the better walkabouts. very friendly day and night, had a great time everytime iv been there. nice outside balcony with a great view, good for food too.

one of the better ones of a crap chain!!!!!!!!

not a bad pub, bouncers can have a bit of an attitude, very lively, good if you want to dance and party not good if you want a chat. cheapish booze. i am happy to drink here in the day time, but tend to keep away in the evening.

Just got back from a couple of days in newquay and this is one of the better walkabouts around (particularly the one here in bristol).
Went in there on 3 different nights and saw no trouble. Was easy to get served (only few minutes). Did go in there one night to see vernon kay on the decks who decided not to show up :(.
The place was busy most nights, music was different to other walkabouts with more r&b & dance, still plenty of cheese though.
Bands were quite good to (going back down in october so will check it out again)

walkabouts usually packed, especially this weekend of the festival, was also easy to get in and bar service was excellent.

Pretty good but I've never seen it rammed, saying that I've only actually spent 2 weeks in Newquay ever so it's probably just bad luck.
Can imagine it would be good when it gets going.
The bloke trying desperately to wash your hands in the gents is a bit of a trip though.

A great night out if you are not single, however if you are single forget pulling in here, i dont go here anymore as there are hardly any women in here at all- maybee an average of 35 blokes to every female (no joke) the rest of newquay these days is around 15 blokes to every woman but the walkabout really takes the biscuit!.... Dont believe me?- Go to Newquay and you will find out!

Was in the Walkabout over the bank holiday (sat night). Only waited 10 mins outside, service at the bar was quick, a max of 5 mins. There was a great band and the DJ played a mixture of cracking tunes. Despite two skin heads who kept on pissing the girls off and trying to pick a fight is was a fab night out!!!
Toby - 31 Aug 2004 11:18
mmmm....not the best place to go in newquay at all. went mid week so relitavely quiet - took 30 mins to get served :( not v.good at all! sorry
kerry - 19 Aug 2004 14:53
5 on the door to get into this converted warehouse. Service at the bar was efficient and the toilets were clean. The live band were quite good, and I can see this would be a good place to go for drinking and dancing!

I went up with one of my friends and we thought it was amazing, very cheap and lots of great people there!!! Coming up again in 2 weeks, so watch out!!!!

anonymous - 16 Jul 2004 21:16

Worked in 3 Walkies, Cardiff, Swansea and Newquay. Last summer was immense, defo my favourite, you'll see me back there in a month. I give in 9 though because of the kids until 8 reg!!
Ozzy - 2 Mar 2004 15:46
Absolute arse and typical of a town that has become fudamentally redefined by the tourists that descend upon the place every summer. Forget the pubs and bars and head straight to the beach and sit around a camp fire.
Good for: Australian stag nights
thenationofjames - 27 Jan 2004 13:41
Isnt that house owned by some Lord or something? Complained vigorously during the summer due to "young scallys" making noise, copulating and such on the beach! Think he's now looking to move as well...so when that lottery's won..!
Kat - 25 Jan 2004 10:31
Easily the best pub in Newquay to have a good time in. Brilliant atmosphere at night. Good food during the day and a fantastic view if you get a sofa up by the windows. Does anyone know who owns that house on the rock? When i win the lottery...
kevin - 24 Jan 2004 13:58
i went there during last summer and it rocked alive brought down the house

steve - [email protected] - 20 Jan 2004 22:09
saw spiderbait and had an awsome time, bring more ozzy bands down this way pleeez.
esta - [email protected] - 24 Jul 2003 15:56
Slightly out of the way (a minutes stagger) from the main bars in the centre of 'town'.

Personally didn't mind it. We always got there too early though. Probably the only Walkabout in Britain that isn't rammed full with enormous-necked bleached blond vomiting Australians in Hawaiian tops.
(They're English instead.)
Ruby - 21 Jul 2003 14:36
Absolutley fantastic lastnight. The band bought the place down! Quality!...and its brilliant that the door prices stay sensible. Thumbs up big time!
Toni - 13 Jul 2003 17:54
Wow!A great place to be...friendly atmosphere, good music and just a generally great night out....couldnt stop going back while i was in Newquay!
Clo - [email protected] - 6 Jul 2003 13:07
Must of been good, can't remember much about that night, Grrr, Roar
Nads - 27 May 2003 15:11
Fantastic, went there last week. Every city should have one of these
Iz - 28 Apr 2003 13:40
Every club should be like this one - easy going yet totally jumpin' where people want to have fun with no trouble. Once you've been once you know you'll go back time and time again.
Shirl - 22 Apr 2003 13:26
Possibly the best place to go if you're on holiday down there- fantastic atmosphere, especially in the summer, including interesting contests and such.. bikini comp for example:-/
