Now reopened after a small fire, it did not burn down as previous review suggests, it hs been renamed Chalfont Phoenix.
The previous reviews are extreme and inaccurate, the pub is not the drug den of Chalfont St Peter, it is a good sports bar that is used by people who want to watch football, who may be a bit noisy and opinionated but are no different to those in any other sports bar.

just to add, there is a documented story from during World War 2, in which a large group of american G.I.s who were based near the area got into a full scale brawl with a large bunch of locals from chalfont st peter out the front of the Poachers. The article goes on to mention that the brawl continued for ages with a lack of police available.

Just goes to show, the poachers is part of chalfont, and has always represented the same thing in the area. ha ha ha

love cocaine, but hate having to be secretive about it? then come to the poachers and no one will bat an eyelid as you snort the stuff in full view. poachers has had a reputation for years and years, its a wonder its never been closed down.

this place was recently burnt down during a burglary (sums up the poachers) but its going to reopen in a few months apparently.

no idea if it is going to remain as the chavs favourite football pub of the area, or if changes will be made.... i hope it does stay as a football pub, as the atmosphere is cracking for england games.

love it or hate it, poachers is part of chalfont.

These reviews are awful. As someone who lives nearby, let me assure you, you would be hard pressed to find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy in all of buckinghamshire. If you love being stabbed, or stabbing, then the poachers is for you. To be honest I'm glad its there, keeps the charvers away from the other pubs.
Avoid like the bloody plague. Threatening, full of boss-eyes aggro-merchants and just....argh.

Great pub, great atmosphere, great beer, great bands, great people, great fun what more could you ask for? Oh yeah fit women!! There are quite a few. The land lady is worth a trip just on her own! Some good looking lads too for the ladies! 10 out of 10 for The Poachers!

I absolutely love this pub, used to be a bit rough but since the new owners took over it's become fantastic. The atmosphere is great, the staff are friendly and cannot do enough to make your visit an enjoyable one. The owners are a young couple who really seem to care that people are having fun and obviously know what the locals want as it gets busier every time I'm in there!!

Large pub with good potential which is being put to good use by the new owners who are wonderful. Really friendly with a new manager who is very funny. The place is a lot cleaner than it used to be with a lot of work being done. The drinks range is now very good and getting better each week and also the entertainment being put on is great. I went to the Blues Brothers show last week which was fantastic. Can't wait for the next band! Like the people said before top marks guys and keep up the good work.

Great pub, friendly staff, has changed a lot over the past couple of years and definately for the better! Apparently has just been bought by a couple who are taking over running the place so hopefully will get even better! I love this place,a lot more atmosphere than the greyhound and more lively than the white hart, everyone should pay this pub a visit. It is my favourite pub in the village.

Nice pub, friendly staff. Lots of tv's all around the pub so great place to watch sport. 3 pool tables and a dart board. Will definately visit again and again.

I love this pub, first ever pub I had a beer in. Its the pub you go to with your mates and just have a dam good laugh. Easily the best place to go in the village for sport.

I think the poachers is a great pub, ok its not the prettiest of pubs but Im addactied to those game machines and the staff are very friendly

What can I say? Chav dissing person, learn to spell.

The Poachers In CSP is a 'regulars' pub yeah but that's because it looks after it's locals. Great for sport: football, rugby, darts and pool especially (the latter two to play, you are relieved at just watching the 'real teams' play the first two). Has fun nights with disco's, quiz's, etc, and is a comfortable place to just go to and meet your friends. However, it can be a great place to meet new people if you're new to the village as it is receptive to friendly new faces. Staff are fab, so long as you treat them like human beings. Err, why wouldn't you though oh critical earlier entrant!?!

OK, OK may not be every ones cup of tea but you have to say It is great fun and the service is great, If some of the people who have said these awful comments should try going somewhere else.

This is the only place where you meet real, honest people and yes they may be trouble, but hay so there is most places in Chalfont.

Give the place a chance...............

The word Dive springs to mind. From the leaky toilets with a usual queue to the wallpaper peiling from the ceiling.

Lively on a Thursday or Friday night with a bus up to the local club definitely not as much fun as it was five years ago but oddly filled with the same people.

On the plus side the drinks are cheap there's pool tables avialable (unless being used for an annoying dj/disco) and there's generally seats free unless on Thursday and Friday.

This place was great in the early to mid eighties when 'Dave' was the landlord just after it changed from 'The brick layers arms' these days I wouldn't recommend it unless you are an 'oik' and then you will fit right in.

3 pool tables, couple of big screens for the footie, darts, jukebox, arcade games, beer garden, cheap drinks, quiz on Sunday evenings. Lively.
